The only problem I see with this is that the reduction of tariffs is supposed to make US autos ‘competitive’ with other foreign manufacturers.

I don’t think the Chinese are that ‘impressed’ with US autos.

That’s kind of what I’m thinking. I’m not so sure we’re gaining much from this. I hope we aren’t giving them much in return.

Imho, the increase in sales of USA cars in commie China will be modest at best. Given the “informal persuasion” there But this is still a victory. First of many I hope. To eventually make the trade more fair

Here is President Trump’s tweet in the last hour.

“China has agreed to reduce and remove tariffs on cars coming into China from the U.S. Currently the tariff is 40%.”

It was a 40% tax on U.S. cars into China.

That is extremely high indicating a high demand or the tariff would not be that high.

See post #11 with the 40% number from President Trump.

“Currently the tariff is 40%.”

That’s unbelievable!

Has it always been that high?

I’ve noticed some the industry’s POTUS is going to bat for on trade are full of Democrats and establishment Never Trumpers. Biotech, aerospace, etc. Pretty ironic.

My understanding as U.S. cars, trucks, jeeps, kept selling China raised the tariffs.

Basically China raised high enough to discourage people from buying U.S. Autos.

Yet we had 0 percent on them. So it was a one way trade deal. We were totally sold out by our politicians. China most likely bribed our politicians who sold out the America.

I wonder how much buying an American car lowers one’s social rating.

Anyway, I don’t expect much from this but as long as Trrump keeps the pressure on he’s doing fine.

Now all the NeverTrumpers are going to have to go back to their Think Tanks and re-think their theories on trade.
