A coalition of women's rights organizations filed an appeal to the High Court of Justice arguing that Israel's recently-relaxed gun laws are causing more women to be murdered.
According to Ynet, the ten different organizations say that a recent uptick of murders are the direct result of a decision by Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan to allow veterans of IDF infantry units to obtain personal handgun permits.
In addition, the appeal claims that 40% of all women are murdered in Israel by handguns compared to only 28% in the OECD.
"There is a clear and proven connection between the extent of weapons licensed by the public and the scope of suicides and murders, especially of women by their families," wrote the appeal.
Women's Lobby head Michal Zera added that "twenty-four women have been murdered since the beginning of the year and the lives of about one-third of the women murdered over the past seven years have been killed by firearms".
"The facts are that weapons in the public sphere lead to more violence and murder, more suicides and more accidents with weapons that charge the lives of children and adults."
In August, Israel significantly relaxed its regulations governing gun licenses in a move that instantly allowed hundreds of thousands of Israelis to acquire a firearm.
Following a decision by Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, any Israeli who underwent level 07 rifle training in the IDF can now apply for a gun license. All infantry soldiers are certified as 07, in addition to all combat squad commanders and the majority of IDF officers....

It is top priority of BDS to take focus away from Terrorist violence and focus on Israeli violence. They couldn’t find “racist” violence committed by Israelis. So apparently they now want to focus on allegations of sexist violence.
The goal has zero to do with racism or sexism and everything to do with keeping the focus ... and the debate away from Terrorism.
Whether they win the gun control debate or not, they succeed when it is the debate and not Terrorism.
Bull feathers. Only a weak mind would swallow this "direct result" argument. Life in our world is not that simple that you could ever find a proven cause and effect in such a short period of time.

I have looked at the numbers in Europe and around the world.
There is no correlation to murder rates and firearms ownership.
There may be a correlation to murder rates with guns and firearms ownership, but not to total murder rates, and that is what counts.

Italy also recently relaxed their laws so that the common folk could more easily purchase ARs.
Seems the countries that are suffering the worst due to weaponized refugee migrations are going the right way on this. America is getting it wrong. Trump’s forthcoming bumpstock ban just being on small example of that.
The facts are:
(1) In the absence of weapons in the public sphere, male criminals know they are almost 100% certain to overpower female victims, even if the criminals obey gun laws, and
(2) Criminals don't obey laws, so gun restrictions will leave law-abiding victims disarmed while they are facing armed criminals.
As for suicide, those who commit gun suicide want to succeed. They will simply choose another reliable method if they cannot get a gun. The anti-gun globalist leaders are evil, and their followers are morons.

Interesting. The latest murder rates I could find for the OECD was 2015, 3.6 per hundred thousand. Israel's murder rate was 1.75. Half the OECD rate. Not sure how much it matters to the victim how you're killed. Reading Israeli news, I don't read about a rash of murdered women.
