'A humiliation': Outcry after Mexico president gives highest honour to Jared Kushner

Enrique Peña Nieto to hand Trump son-in-law the Order of the Aztec Eagle for trade work

Outgoing Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto has stunned the country by bestowing the nation’s highest honour for foreigners on Jared Kushner, senior White House advisor and son-in-law of Donald Trump.

Peña Nieto praised Kushner as “a grand ally of Mexico” who helped achieve a renegotiation of the NAFTA between the US, Canada and Mexico.

The revised agreement – now known as Usmca – is expected to be signed in Buenos Aires during the G20 summit. Peña Nieto will decorate Kushner with the Order of the Aztec Eagle this week.

Peña Nieto: “He has been an important actor in this objective of having a good understanding of the new government that entered two years ago.”

Mexicans voiced their outrage over Kushner receiving the Order of the Aztec Eagle, whose past recipients include Queen Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela and Walt Disney.

Carlos Bravo Regidor, a professor at the Centre for Research and Teaching in Economics, said: “This is the perfect ending for Peña Nieto’s term: an insuperable illustration of the indignity of his government’s position regarding Trump.

“It’s the final kick in the crotch for Mexicans.”

In August 2016, the then finance minister Luis Videgaray – now foreign minister – convinced Peña Nieto to invite then candidate Trump to Mexico City for a meeting at the presidential palace. In a joint media appearance afterward, Trump again pledged to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico.

Peña Nieto appeared acquiescent as he stayed silent – at least until Trump left the country. At a campaign rally later that night, Trump continued to publicly criticise Mexico.

“Stunned the country”, “final kick in the crotch”

Quite the example of exaggeration propagandists use to alienate one side and make believe the other side is more powerful...

Dissecting this Guardian article it shows the standard form of MSM propaganda. The MSM employs a standard technique of finding someone, anyone, critical of the Trump administration and wrapping any positive news in a wrapper of criticism.

Sometimes the MSM just grabs criticisms from anonymous Twitter users. Sometimes they find some professor. It provides the MSM the ability to editorialize by proxy.

It takes drive and dedication to descend even lower than CNN.

The Guardian does it effortlessly.

Bill Clinton never received that award but he was given lifetime free admission and front row seat to the Tijuana Donkey Show.

What did Nelson Mandela ever do for Mexico?

The United States continues to provide employment and remittance revenue for roughly 20% of Mexico's population. Who else even comes close?

It doesn’t matter how good or great things are, they will twist and dig and outright lie to paint an ugly picture of anything Trump or Republican.

Yup. If Trump rappelled out of his helicopter into a river to rescue a drowning little girl, the headline would be “Many question environmental impact of Trump helicopter stunt”.

“It’s the final kick in the crotch for Mexicans.”

Maybe. Maybe not. We'll have to wait and see.

“Sometimes the MSM just grabs criticisms from anonymous Twitter users.” They do it all the time I no longer read any story that includes anonymous twits.
