No kidding. Put that at the top of your resume and see how far it gets you. What’s funny is they have put these native languages in print now, but to do it, they have to use a borrowed alphabet because they had no written language. The whole thing is a farce.

Notice the part where it says they have 2 centuries worth of reasons to not be patriotic? What crap.

For a time I worked for J.C. Penney’s, taking catalog orders. In New England, many of the names of cities and towns were from the local tribes, and I often had to deal with things on the order of ‘Chaubunagungamaugg’ or ‘Ouacachapassit’. I think that those long-ago natives must have had a perverse sense of humor.

They more than likely had the sesquipedalianism gene as dominant.

The United States is four hundred years old? Wow, public schools must be worse than we all thought, teaching that 1776 nonsense.

I am guessing JW stands for Jehovah’s Witness.

You asked for my view so here it is: Jehovah’s Witnesses shouldn’t have the right to vote or serve on juries or in any other way have a say in my life.

They won’t “lift the sword” to defend me, so I would like to say “good luck” to them when they are attacked whether by criminals or by foreign despots. They pay taxes, so I suppose they are deserving of ordinary services paid for by taxes. But, I am not a damn fool, and - if it were up to me - I wouldn’t let anyone rule over me who in equally yoked with me. You see, I, too, read the Bible.

Compare our American Indians to Jehovah Witnesses. Our American Indians are among the most patriotic of all of us. So, I totally respect American Indians and the treaties by which they joined with us.

I served in the military during the Vietnam era, although not in Vietnam. The first time I was thanked for my service was at an Indian pow-wow. The Chief proudly talked of his tribe’s warrior heritage, that continues to this day. He said his two sons were among the greatest warriors of today, one a Marine and the other an Army Ranger. He invited all of us in the audience to join with the veterans of his tribe in a war dance. I was humbled and honored by that invitation.

So, for sure, I will defend my fellow citizens who are Native Americans. As for Jehovah’s Witnesses, I will tolerate them.

It's even worse than you think; teaching all that 1492 revisionist stuff now.

(I was just thinking of 1620 and Plymouth Rock when I got 400)

Yeah; the white-eyes are REALLY good at keeping up THEIR end of the 'treaties'; aren't they!

“But I’d also say there’s zero harm in learning it and if it helps some kids get a bit more meaning and knowledge in their lives, doesn’t that make it useful? “

Another plus is when tourists act stupidly the kids can insult them in Navajo.

The Navajo definitely came out better in terms of a homeland reservation than did any other tribe.

The Navajo have nearly 500 years of putting up with European culture.

I've read of western movies that used locals in them to speak in their language.

They managed to insult a LOT of the 'cow'boys and stuff.

It must be a real hoot to understand the laughing in the theaters coming from NA's.

That’s not what the article addressed. It was about the pledge of allegiance to the US flag, not the Spanish. American government didn’t come in contact until 1849. So not even the two hundred years the article referred to.
