After rare rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts, Trump fires back on Twitter

Chief Justice John Roberts rebutted President Donald Trump's recent criticism that the recent ruling against the administration's asylum policy on migrants was issued by an "Obama judge".

“We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges," Roberts, who originally responded to the Associated Press, said via a statement issued from the Supreme Court's press office. "What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”

The president responded directly to the comments in a pair of tweets Wednesday afternoon. "Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have 'Obama judges,' and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country," Trump said.

How refreshing, and rare it is to see a POTUS schooling a Chief Justice. And calling out the federal courts for the political animals they are.

They are above nothing, and nobody in this country besides their own courtroom. It's time they were brought to heel.

Excellant response to Earl Warren II.
Roberts is fixing to recuse himself from this case, which would presumably render a 4-4 decision with the lower court decision standing.

Like Sessions, Roberts is an establishment tool.

Judges are just lawyers that had enough money to bribe a politician. Right or left wing they will stick together to protect their hack profession. I’d like to see Roberts keep his nose out of something thats none of business, What he said is just embarrassing. He probably just wants to get a few Good Boy points from talking head shows by disagreeing with the president. The same people will put their foot right on his neck if he ever makes a decision they slightly disagree with though. Enjoy it while you can.

On what basis would be the recusal?

The most apt metaphor for the Federal judiciary anyone ever imagined.

Thank you for posting that.

Roberts did not need to make any statement. He chose to enter the foray when he was not even called out by the President.

"What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”

Sorry Mr. Roberts but doing “equal right to those appearing before them” is not the first duty of an appeals judge. The first duty of an appeals judge is to act within the powers of that court.

The appeals court in this case did not have within its powers under the law to act against the president in an immigration case or in an act of border control.

This judge was obviously acting in a partisan fashion to block the actions of this president.

“Roberts is part of the swamp”

Exactly. Where is Roberts on the illegal FISA spy warrants?

He’s right in a way. He’s not a Bush or a Trump judge. He’s a Bush judge AND an Obama judge.

Trump should tweet the only time we want Robert’s opinion is when he is obligated to give one per his duties as a SC Justice.

Sen. Charles Grassley tweeted: "Chief Justice Roberts rebuked Trump for a comment he made abt judge’s decision on asylum I don’t recall the Chief attacking Obama when that Prez rebuked Alito during a State of the Union"

Excerpted from a Gateway Pundit article, "Grassley Defends Trump: ‘I Don’t Recall Chief Roberts Attacking Obama When He Rebuked Alito During a SOTU’.

Somebody needs to smack down these activist judges who just make stuff up because it makes them feel good.
Even if it endangers the rest of US.

The Chief Justice is obviously not going to do it.
