It will not be conducted with guns, but with nullification of federal law by courts and States. And don't forget election cheating. All of this is already going on but I think eventually it will come down to a shooting war, but I won't predict a timeline.
I see two possibilities to avoid it: 1) a semi-friendly split or 2) a "coming to Jesus" by the New York times. I'd say a 10% chance of the first one and a 0% chance of the second one.
