So their asylum claims of persecution from Mexico could be legit. ??

You don’t get to “pick and choose” to Move On when seeking asylum, first country you enter (and that one even accepted you) is it.
Only thing they didn't anticipate was rebellion at Tijuana. There was a great video of it all happening either last night or the night before that has apparentlly been scrubbed by facebook.
The piece you read above is what everyone is supposed to believe just hungry helpless peasants with moms and kids all looking for a better life.
Not the real truth 95% are 15-30 year old males mostly angry and ready to fight, maybe work, but suck up as much welfare as they can and then who knows what more of what we see now,chaos in the US where anything goes and then you get a free lawyer.

Most, if not all, of said “foreign aid” goes into the pockets of the tin pot dictators these useless wastes of skin elect in perpetuity. In my lifetime, I have watched as the “countries” of Central and South America go in and out of the political “$hitter” as Venezuela is doing at present. I can’t recall a single country down there that has been a stable, decent place to live and work for any length of time. The basic problem is all they really know how to do successfully is pop out babies at an unsustainable rate for their local economies. And that’s what they are doing when they arrive here, only we give them life-long public assistance so their “uncomplicated lives” can go on on our dime. And the thing that really pi$$es me off is that these scum suckers fly their former country’s flags as a finger in our eye here.

Tijuana also has a sizeable contingent of Chinese looking to enter the US illegally. The locals really ARE being invaded, and from all over the globe.
They’re NOT welcome here either. How about these men go back to their own countries and do the reforms necessary to make their countries work.
Nope, they’d rather come here and prop up the same kind of corrupt elites IN OUR COUNTRY that enslaved them in their own hellholes.

These people need to go back to their home countries
do reforms necessary to fix their countries...
Establish the rule of law - (everyone - even corrupt elites are held to the same standards)
... create a strong Bill of Rights fashioned after ours
... AND a Uniform Commercial Code so they can start businesses without being ripped off by their corrupt 'elites'.
And stay the hell out of our country... with the culture that causes their misery.

The problem in most of those countries is the corrupt politicians.
Most of those countries have great natural resources, and have been given lots of foreign aid, which we know ends up in the hands of the government and never reaches the people for whom it is intended.

Among the decent people of Honduras, they sure as hell don’t want most of them back, either. Many look on this like a giant national toilet-flush to that great sewage treatment plant to the north. Contrary to what most think north of the border, the great majority of Central Americans are not frothing at the mouth to get into the US.
Most of this whole regional disaster wouldn’t exist except for past US greed for cheap bananas and precious metals by the United Fruit Company and the NY & Honduras Mining Company, initiated by then-president Marco Aurelio Soto. Now it’s a continued greed for cheap labor, illegal Democrat votes and an insane addiction for 85% of all the world’s dope in all its many forms. As far as MS-13 and Mara-18, the US created them, the US can have them back. And good riddance!
That’s how many in Honduras see this mess. My personal point of view, and yours, may vary.
