In commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, French President Emmanuel Macron said: Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism. By saying Our interests first, who cares about the others, we erase what a nation holds dearest . . . its moral values.
That might sound nice, but Mr. Macron got it almost exactly backward. It is through the nation that moral values can be upheld and sustained. In America, our ideals are deeply intertwined with our national traditions...
The pride that millions of Americans felt when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon isnt something they read about first in a textbook. The feeling of equality among teammates on a high-school football team isnt imposed from above...
American nationalism is opposed to the kind of detached rationality Mr. Macron described. The U.S. isnt a subsidiary of an international order, but it also is more than a group of people bound by a border...
What makes America exceptional is that our values are built into our national identity. While we have never been completely true to our founding ideas, for more than two centuries each generation has fought and succeeded to move us closer to them.
Perhaps no American is more emblematic of this tradition than Abraham Lincoln. He knew the only way the nation could survive was by finding common values, and those values could only be upheld by keeping the nation together...
President Trump is right to embrace the label nationalist, because a true American nationalism isnt about a national identity based on race, religion or ethnicity. Instead, it is based on our identity as a nation committed to the idea that all people are created equal, with a God-given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...

Getting ready for 2024.
Either growing up and realizing what is right.
Or growing up and realizing how to fool a lot of people
time will tell
An impressive few days for him, I must say!
And just as it is up to individual nations to take care of themselves, so it is with individual people.
We need to get back to individual responsibility and move away from the collective mentality.
Unfortunately, it seems that the majority of our young are brainwashed and ushering in socialism.
The fight for individual freedom is underway.
zackly
They and most other hacks from the party establishment have jumped the President's bandwagon and will mostly support his agenda from now on. The fact that they're doing it for opportunistic reasons doesn't really matter, at the end of the day, a vote is a vote and support is support, regardless of underlying motives.
But I am all for Love Of Country and I do not want a Global Government.
It's totally one of those definition of "IS".
Rubio seems to be coming around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first thing he did upon getting elected was to try to abandon the rule of law and surrender the country to fraudulently documented foreigners.
Do not trust Rubio.
He is a globalist Bush League Republican hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico.
As soon as the next amnesty is introduced he will join Graham and the rest to betray the citizens, AGAIN!
Rubio is an untrustworthy snake.
He is also the son of Cuban nationals, so he was born a Cuban national, he is not a natural born citizen.
He has already demonstrated his disdain for the Constitution by running while ineligible and the rule of law by trying to abandon it with amnesty for illegals.
You mean like Linda Graham?
No, lil Marco is just in between bubble bath parties.
I voted for Rubio. I have been disappointed in his performance so far. Not in his running for President. Not in Rubio’s attempt to reach across the isle. No, I am disappointed that he doesn’t support the people whom have provided him with opportunity. If people want socialism that have immigrated here I say let them return to their socialist countries. There are many other ‘socialist’ countries they can choose from. This country is unique, because of it’s freedom comes with responsibility and consequences. Those who risked all in the Revolution to create this country, and fought to create a Constitutional Republic with a bill of ‘god given rights’ understood what that meant. The understood the risks and benefits of Freedom, and they choose freedom. People who immigrate here must understand that land of opportunity is also a land of risk because of those Freedoms. Rubio has never really seemed to understand this, IMHO, and supported things that are contrary to this.
Most important of all is that ‘Nationalism’ is different for Republics than it is for other forms of government. Nationalism is patriotism in a true republic, believing in your constitution. Socialist Nationalism is a the first step to war and murder, as proven in Europe and throughout the world in the last century. France is now socialist, and with the loss of identity it has voted on, and it’s persistent welfare state, migrant enclaves who will not support the government or it’s laws, is a terrible risk if it were to go socialist for genocide. The Nationalism isn’t really the problem, it’s the Socialism followed by anything (insert word here) that is real threat. When people can be educated about history, they will see that this is self evident.
Well I give him credit for a well thought out response, but I am still suspicious. In other words, he’s going to have to show me a lot more than this, and he still is not a natural born citizen thus ineligible to run for President.
I’m in the same boat. My main problem with him though is his immigration stance. If we could get control over immigration so it was not an issue anymore, I would probably be willing to vote for him again.
His immigration stance is colored by his background, though. It’s kind of hard for the son of Cuban immigrants to take a strong stance against immigration, particularly one whose constituents are also either Cuban immigrants or descendants of Cuban immigrants.
I don't trust Rubio or Graham either, but that doesn't mean that they aren't useful in the present moment. At the end of the day, they want to get re-elected, and for now that means going along with Trump's agenda.
I may be wrong, but my guess is that they want to keep their jobs badly enough to even go along with Trump's anti-illegal immigration initiatives, regardless of how much they oppose them, at least for now. If Jeb Bush or a Democrat were President, they'd be a disaster, but they aren't, so for now these two little yipping dogs have been brought to heel.
His immigration stance is colored by his background, though. Its kind of hard for the son of Cuban immigrants to take a strong stance against immigration,
Precisely why the founders excluded the children of foreign nationals from being President with the natural born citizen requirement.
One is only NATURALLY a citizen when one CANNOT be anything else.
The founders wanted to ensure no foreign influence on the President, so they insisted on someone who could only be an American and nothing else.
Chaos getting too close to home for Micro?
