Lorena Martin was hired just over a year ago to fill a position unique to baseball. No other organization before the Seattle Mariners had a director of high performance in the baseball operations department.
But on Monday, just over a month after the Mariners fired her, Lorena Martin posted a string of heavy comments to her Instagram and Twitter accounts, leveling accusations of racism and discrimination and specifically naming general manager Jerry Dipoto, manager Scott Servais and director of player development Andy McKay.

It took over a month before this woman made these allegations and she never reported it to the team's officials.
Took her that long before she decided to make an embarrassment of herself.
Sounds like a make-work position to start with, like Michelle Obama's position at a Chicago hospital that was not filled at all after she and Barack went to Washington.

FWIW, having actually ‘read’ the article, she waited a month because there were negotiations going on about the payment of the last two years of her 3 year contract.
AFA using Instagram and Twitter, how else can she get her story out. You know, like Trump does?
Based on a cursory inter webs search, I'd volunteer to be a one-man Honky Outreach Committee, but for two things:

Have you actually ‘read’ the article, and looked at her background?

She earned her Ph.D in Exercise Physiology from the University of Miami in 2013 and earned her Master of Science, Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 2009 with a concentration in Sports Psychology. She’s also been a visiting scientist at the Salk Institute focusing on bioinformatics and has been an invited visiting researcher at NASA Langley.”
They hired her away from the LA Lakers.
Doesn’t sound like a ‘make-work’ position to me.
The Mariners deserve every bit of pain they receive for their ridiculous decision in creating that b.s. job.
Except for the fact that with all those super-cool bona fides, she contributed to the Mariners finishing 14 games out of first this year. How "good" at her job could she possibly be?

Her negotiations didn't go well so she does what every liberal does, they throw out the race card.
Doesn't work for me. Every bitter pill some people have to swallow in life is not because of racism. Only liberals think that.
This woman should go hire a lawyer and go after the Mariners, if she was wronged.
Instead, she's crying racism on social media, the realm of middle-schoolers. Immature approach at best.
Maybe she will write a book, “Bad Stuff Bout the Mariners”.
As a former New Yorker when Telly Savalas would say the infamous Detective Kojak: "Who loves ya baby." Always took that as a way of saying F-U on TV.
After reading the article, it’s pretty obvious that the woman, in spite of all her advanced degrees and experience, is no smarter than the average baseball manager. I don’t know which side to believe, but they both sound like losers.
Well, it says the Mariners were the only team in MLB to have the position and now they dropped that position. So, yes, it does sound like a make-work position despite her academic success.
The Mariners have made a tradition out of throwing themselves into the shitter the second half of the season. It happens every year. You can count on it like you can count on the ball dropping in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. It’s more reliable than Punxsutawney Phil for predicting a long winter- at least in Seattle.
