Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott, who is involved in a tight contest with incumbent Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson for one of the state's US Senate seat, made claims on Thursday that officials in two Florida counties are tampering with election results.
Scott, using his authority as governor, got involved in his own race by ordering law enforcement officials to investigate board of election actions in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
Scott's US Senate campaign, along with the Republican Senate campaign arm, filed a lawsuit claiming that election officials in Broward County are refusing to release public records.
Every Floridian should be concerned there may be rampant fraud happening in both Broward and Palm Beach counties, the governor said.
Officials in the two Florida counties, which are Democratic-leaning, are continuing to count ballots two days after the polls closed.
As of Thursday evening, Scott leads Nelson by .2 percent. That margin is a bit smaller than from Election Night when Scott led by more than a half percent. Any result within .25 percent triggers an automatic hand recount.
Nelson released the following statement following Scott's announcement: The goal here is to see that all the votes in Florida are counted and counted accurately. Rick Scotts action appears to be politically motivated and borne out of desperation.
Meanwhile in the gubernatorial race in Florida, Republican Ron DeSantis has seen his lead evaporate from over 1 percent on Election Night to under .5 percent on Thursday. His challenger, Democrat Andrew Gillum, had previously conceded the election, but on Thursday, told supporters that he was hiring lawyers to make sure every vote is counted.
Gillum tweeted the following Thursday evening: "Mr. @FLGovScott counting votes isn't partisan it's democracy. Count every vote."
President Donald Trump weighed in on Thursday on Scott's announcement.

Republican Speaker-Designate Jose Oliva backed Scott's decision.
"Voter confidence in the sanctity of the ballot box is a cornerstone of our Republic," Oliva said in a statement. "Palm Beach county, as well as Brenda Snipes and Broward countys discovery of tens of thousands of allegedly valid, uncounted ballots is disturbing to say the least."
This is so scary to me. Prayers that this gets sorted out with justice for those involved.
Why isn’t Republican Gov. Ducey of Arizona doing the same thing with the Sinema/McSally debacle? WHY?
I don’t know Arizona laws..................
Why is it that no one saw this coming except in hindsight?
She probably said: Aint no way no white supremacistical honky ‘gon get by me wid no ‘lection win. No way.
“Let me tell you about Florida politicians. I make them, I make them out of whole cloth, just like a tailor makes a suit. I get their name in the newspaper. I get them some publicity and I get their name on the ballot. Then, after the election, we count the votes, and if they don’t turn out right, we recount them again until they do.”—Edward G. Robinson to Humphrey Bogart in Key Largo
If you ain’t cheatin’ you ain’t tryin’.........................
My tagline shows my ongoing interest in this matter.
We must re-take our honest system of peaceful election or the winners soon will be the ones with the most young armed thugs supporting the candidate. Like Cuba and most of Latin America have had for decades.
You can check my comments going back a couple of months where I said the Dems will pull out all the stops to for vote fraud and that we need to be vigilant. Guess the Repubs just don’t care....
I’m willing to take your word for it. Maybe Jeb still has some pull in Florida and that’s why everyone seems to be looking the other way, who knows...
Even if they were truly found ballots, how can they be counted at all?
Once they are out of the chain of custody, they are no longer reliable no matter what they say?
And why always Broward and Palm Beach? Never anywhere else. The American people shouldn’t put up with this. FL is an embarrassment.
Joe, at least, or at last, our side is finally fighting back! Three cheers for Governor Scott!!!!!!!!!
Check ‘the dead’ vote... if the dead have voted other ‘voters
who didn’t show up to vote’ will also be voted. Then canvas those neighborhoods - have people sign statements saying they voted or didn’t vote... and compare it to official lists of voters.
In Florida voter fraud usually is done in the black community because they have a ‘no snitch’ culture.
That may be only the beginning. The Feds (FBI, US Marshals Service and the FEC) may get also involved, too.
Gillum tweeted the following Thursday evening: “Mr. @FLGovScott counting votes isn’t partisan it’s democracy. Count every vote.”
Shut up you crook! If Gillum and Nelson get away with stealing these elections that could be the final breaking point! The Dems have gone full blown anarchist now. Is this what every rank and file Democrat wants? They may be cheering now, but the same corrupt leadership will turn on them eventually! Ive told more than a few arrogant white liberals theyre not part of the RATS future plans!
Good ole Jeb!
