Acting AG Whitaker To Take Authority On Mueller Probe From Rosenstein
Daily Caller ^ | 11-7-2018 | Hanna Bogorowski

The Justice Department stated Wednesday that acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker will overtake supervision of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions Wednesday afternoon and replaced him with Whitaker, Sessions’ chief of staff.

We are pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General of the United States. He will serve our Country well….

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 7, 2018

Sessions recused himself from the Russia probe in March 2017, much to President Donald Trump’s chagrin.

This put the Russia probe in Rosenstein’s hands, but after Wednesday’s development, it was unclear who would now supervise the probe with Sessions gone.

“The Acting Attorney General is in charge of all matters under the purview of the Department of Justice,” Sarah Isgur Flores, director of public affairs at the DOJ told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

GOOD. Now demand that Mueller cough up a report in a week and then close up shop on this farce. We’ve wasted enough of the country’s money and President’s time.

***************

No, Sessions recused himself from his JOB! He did absolutely nothing during his entire tenure. He should return his salary to the American people.

Makes sense that the AG even an acting AG take over that responsibility.
Sessions would have also had that responsibility had he not recused
himself from everything.

This new guy can REIGN in ANY road that mueller is going down that has NOTHING to do with Russia!!

Geez. If ANY of us were investigated for ANYTHING and for YEARS, something would be found!!

Whitaker, a former U.S. attorney in Iowa who ran for political office as a Republican in 2014, also argued in an op-ed for CNN in August 2017 that Mueller would be crossing a line if he launched an investigation into the finances of Trump and his family.

“Mueller has come up to a red line in the Russia 2016 election-meddling investigation that he is dangerously close to crossing,” Whitaker wrote.

“That goes beyond the scope of the appointment of the special counsel.”

He’s run for other offices in Iowa, going back years. He’s not real charismatic, but he’s smart and a good guy.

"GOOD. Now demand that Mueller cough up a report in a week and then close up shop on this farce. We’ve wasted enough of the country’s money and President’s time." ------------------ No kidding...and when the Lefties start squawking about it (in the time it takes to inhale and form words), Trump can tell them to piss off. There is NO CRIME by Trump, and most certainly no collusion with Russia (and I STILL insist that there is no way that Vlad Putin really wanted a guy in the Oval Office who would expand our military and let our oil industry go crazy producing as much as possible). Thus, the "Independent" Counsel should wrap up his job with a report to that effect, and go the F home. Further, when they squawk, he can tell them that they have a choice: 1) Suck it up and proceed to do what they were elected to do, namely to work for the American people; or 2) Don't suck it up and start investigating how many toenail clippings he left in hotels around the world - but that he'll respond in kind with similar investigations of seditious and other unlawful (erasing emails ) activities by members of the past administration. They STILL aren't used to dealing with a Pubbie that actually still has his balls attached...but they're going to have to get used to it. Thank God for President Trump!!!

“The Acting Attorney General is in charge of all matters under the purview of the Department of Justice,”

This does NOT mean he is taking over the direct oversight of the investigation. How much of his authority he delegates and how "hands on" he will be with Rosenstein and Mueller remains to be seen. I hope Rosenstein is removed from the chain completely, and Whitaker requires detailed reports on a daily basis. Issue a new scope letter, put Mueller on a short leash with a choke chain, and fire him if he makes a single misstep.

President Trump has done a Check Mate on Rod Rosenstein, that snake. Now Rosenstein, who is a witness in the Mueller fiasco, will be called to the carpet, game over.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the first order of business of the new acting AG is to draft a memorandum detailing Rosenstein’s conflict(s) of interest in overseeing Mueller in any capacity. This would be the James Comey firing all over again. LOL.
