Random calling doesn’t seem to work for polling anymore. In an age of caller ID, scammers, robocalls, etc., if I don’t recognize the number I don’t answer. Then the number is added to my block list. I can’t be the only person doing this.
30-something years ago I did some IT consulting for an analysis shop in the Pentagon. My contact joked that he would be asked to “do a study that shows we need 28 more [insert weapons platform here].”
Last week a poll was calling me every two hours, I didnt answer or would pick up and just set the phone down, or maybe pick up and just say nothing, still they called back every 2 hours. Finally, I took their poll. First question, my opinion of Trump. Very high I said. What is my opinion of Mark Harris? Very high I answered. CLICK. They hung up.
GUARANTEE my call was not used in their results, they only use the ones that give the desired result.
That’s true.
When I get one I either chew out the pollster with extreme prejudice and hang up, or keep them on the line and tell a series of entertaining lies.
Bias polling.
They seek to depress Republican turnout.
They seek to convince LIVs to vote Democrat, “everybody’s doing it, you must too!”, “vote for the WINNING team”, “we aren’t going to be blown out, GO ‘BLUE’ dat daa datdat daa datdat daaaa da”
Many conservatives tell thee liberal pollsters they vote Democrat just for the entertainment of the expressions of liberal newsreaders the day following the election
Many Republican have stopped taking surveys is a LIE.
When they poll 1000 people they don’t just call 1000 people.
They create a pool of profiles, often biased Democat with “independents” heavily weighted with Socialists.
If Republicans “aren’t answering”, keep calling until you have your “32 percent” of the sample.
As another poster has pointed out, they will hang up on voters who identify as white males over 40.
They aren’t taking “just anyone” so they are calling more than 1,000.
When pollsters call, they will sometimes engage in “push polling”, wording issues in such a way to get their partisan talking points out to the listener.
“are you for sensible gun control or are you ‘ok’ with school rampage shootings?”
These pools are nothing more than a agitprop operation sponsored by Soros to discourage and demoralize Republicans.
I lay the phone down, too, and let them talk to my placemat. I will stay on the line if they have more information, press the proper button, then lay the phone down. Amazingly, the number of calls I get have drastically reduced over time.
And this worked in 2016. Oh wait it didn’t. Hint
Your theory is not sound.
p
I can imagine no competent scientist giving a talk to a presentation on a major new claim saying that well, of 27,000 events we actually only got data on 500. From these 500 we conclude that the average value of the 27,000 is...
He would be laughed off the stage and his reputation unsalvageably in tatters.
Of course the first question is what was special about 500 respondents that they answered and the other 27,000 didn't. Were they at home with nothing to do while everyone else was working or at school or doing errands? Or were they on the list of folks who had Obamaphones?
Many, or MOST? I have declined them for 20 years or so.
absolutely.
IF I decide to disrupt my life to take a Lamesteam Media poll, it is for one reason: to give misinformation about what I am thinking, or for whom I am voting.
The last time I got polled by an actual political polling outfit was at my grandmother’s house. She passed away in 2004 after a year in a nursing home. I believe my 18 year old was an infant at the time.
It’s not from lack of time. Personally, I find it funny to mess with them. But, they have only contacted me twice in my lifetime.
It did. Now, it fires us up to prove them wrong.
The sheeple in the middle want to vote for a winner, regardless of party, so the early pro Democrat fake polls push them to Democrats so your strategy is not a good one.
