PRAGUE — The U.S. military has already begun delivering jersey barriers to the southern border in conjunction with plans to deploy active duty troops there, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Sunday as a caravan of Central Americans slowly heads across Mexico toward the United States.
Mattis told reporters traveling with him that details of the deployment are still being worked out but he should have them Sunday night. They will include exactly how many forces are needed.
The additional troops will provide logistical and other support to the Border Patrol, and will bolster the efforts of the approximately 2,000 National Guard forces already there. The new forces are expected to provide logistical assistance such as air support and equipment, including vehicles and tents.
National Guard troops routinely perform those same functions, so it is not clear why active duty forces are being used.
President Donald Trump for the past week has been calling attention to the caravan heading by foot into southern Mexico, but it is still hundreds of miles from U.S. soil.

I would. We are at war. If you lived closer to the border you would see that.
no Jersey barriers are a waste of time, however using razor wire is a much better option.
That’s how you win the battle and lose the war.
Just look at Israel and the crap they have to put up with. With the USA being a near 50/50 country no way would that work.
We really need to stop them on Mexico’s side somehow. ONce they step on US soil per US law they can claim asylum. If they were Mexicans we can immediately report them, but they aren’t Mexicans. So they can claim asylum and get a day in court. Per US Law.
People will cite the Supreme latest ruling about the so called Muslim ban. But the difference there is they never made it to US soil.
We have specific laws for asylum seekers and they will be coached on what to say so they at least get a day in court. So the question is do they let them “free” or do we keep them in cages until their day in court. Each costs us lots of money.
The expected cross point is Texas not CA. Again my friends so far there is nothing to suggest they are planning to actually to stop the invasion. Every move suggests they are making sure the “processing” is managed as orderly as possible. It’s a sickening fact the Rats and the GOPe has severally limited what can legally be done but damn it there must be a way to stop them.

Yep. Most people on FR don’t understand that part of once they touch US Soil they get certain protections to claim amnesty.
We have to stop them on Mexico’s side. I think the CIA giving them dysentery or some other sickness making it impossible to march forward should be used.

Details of the deployment are still being worked out - I would have thought they already had a plan ready to go. It is not like President Trump has made it a secret what he was willing to do to stop the migration over our open borders.
National Guard must be called up by the state’s governor, IIRC. Are the border governors refusing? Or does Trump not want to have to worry about chain of command issues?

Jersey barriers are also known as k rails, those tall concrete thingies you see in the medians of highways.

Some on here got excited about sending the military, why??? All they will do is process and observe, they certainly will not be given orders to shoot and even if they did would that 2 year old soldier want to shoot a kid and face the wrath later?
