Mattis: Military moving equipment to border ahead of migrant caravan
The Washington Times ^

PRAGUE — The U.S. military has already begun delivering jersey barriers to the southern border in conjunction with plans to deploy active duty troops there, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Sunday as a caravan of Central Americans slowly heads across Mexico toward the United States.

Mattis told reporters traveling with him that details of the deployment are still being worked out but he should have them Sunday night. They will include exactly how many forces are needed.

The additional troops will provide logistical and other support to the Border Patrol, and will bolster the efforts of the approximately 2,000 National Guard forces already there. The new forces are expected to provide logistical assistance such as air support and equipment, including vehicles and tents.

National Guard troops routinely perform those same functions, so it is not clear why active duty forces are being used.

President Donald Trump for the past week has been calling attention to the caravan heading by foot into southern Mexico, but it is still hundreds of miles from U.S. soil.

The immigrants hold most of the cards once it gets down to the final couple of hundred yards.

That's why the optics on the Mexican border of 2,000 rushing in a wave thru the border looked so bad. The press controls the narrative there. Better a standard border response with a large fallback response force in a tightly controlled area back from the border. Suspension of asylum claims and press access via Martial Law. Just like military found out, press kills the military message like in Vietnam and not allowing press like desert storm allowed the job to get done. The leftist soros press is a definable enemy in this scenario. Luckily our President very well knows that and it drives the press crazy.

I am not talking about this slow poke invasion.
What if 5,000-10,000 armed whatever stormed our border in a matter of hours?

Shoot the males. Shelter the women and children until they are put on cargo ships for the trip back home.

Those lane dividers made of concrete you see along highways.

Sort of like the "diversity barriers" they use in Europe to keep practitioners of the Religion of Peace from driving motor vehicles into crowds.

You have no idea about how effective a large contingent of well-armed, pissed-off Americans will be...

I have a very good idea of how effect such forces would be. The answer is not very effective.

It won't be from any lack of skills or determination.

The enemies have organized propaganda and firepower (Mexican Army, Police, and Cartel forces) to back their demands. They also have a substantial "fifth column" of Leftist supporters in this Country. We have indecisive political leaders at the State, County, and Municipal levels who will actually move to stop volunteer forces from doing anything effective.

That has to change before volunteers can be a decisive force. The Police and Military forces will need directions from their commanders to avoid confrontations with American volunteers. The political Authorities (or their replacements) will need to give those directions.

On the plus side, the Mexican forces will probably turn on each other at the first setback and destroy themselves. This invasion will disintegrate at the first real opposition.

We have not seen that yet. Let's not get too wrapped up in our own propaganda.

Some appropriate song lyrics to keep in mind about our politicians:

"And if you really want to know our view - you haven't done nothing" (Stevie Wonder)

Good news, but if they put feet on US soil, a long legalistic procedure kicks in ...More effective? CHANGE THE LAWS SO ONE FOOT IN DOESN'T MATTER. ARREST THEM AT THE BORDER AND SEND THEM HOME. PERIOD.

Troops on the border are a waste of time and a PR disaster if they can't do anything to stop the invaders. Law says a police officer can't arrest a person for spitting on them... and this could be the same. Illegals walking into the country and spitting on our soldiers as they walk past them.

Yes, we'll get the wall, but if ONE soldier 'acts against the law' dems will take the House.

See tag - dems WANT a confrontation - they want dead children.

Mexican civilians are not armed. (few exceptions)

Drug lords are heavily armed. BUT, I doubt they are stupid enough to take on our active military.

“We have indecisive political leaders at the State, County, and Municipal levels who will actually move to stop volunteer forces from doing anything effective.”

Under present circumstances (Invasion force, act of war) such actions would constitute treason. Those individuals would thus warrant being shot for making such impediments that provide aid and comfort to the enemy - in a war situation.

The illegal crossers seem to be
Emboldened,
But the Agents are Upbeat.
Desperation on the South and
the North feels they have
the support of the
Commander and Chief of
The United States.
which has been lacking for many years.
I think we Are Prepared for this.

We’ve already had incidents before where armed volunteer groups related in some cases to the Oathkeepers have kept watch on the border with coordination with State officials.

There were no problems.

If a conflict erupted? That did not happen.

I think there were some in AZ, MX “mules” with Oathkeepers.

So send military units into Mexican airspace - air cav - to attack the invading column from the rear, where all the MS13 and military-age males are located. Kill all the men - and FK Mexico, because it is THEIR commie government that is aiding and abetting this invasion force.

I’m relieved to hear that.
Obviously I am just talking worst case.
And questioning how prepared we actually are.
Although I suspect that not all will be storming our border.
Many are already here.
Some estimates already have the illegal population at around 60 million.

That is almost 1/5th of our pop.
How many are actually pro-American.
How many would be willing to dobattle against us.

Under present circumstances (Invasion force, act of war) such actions would constitute treason.

I would say that you are absolutely correct on this point.

The central problem that we face is that we have far too many people in our own Government who actively support our enemies. We also have too many people in the general population who will tolerate such behavior or even support it. It is unfashionable to point out the effective remedies to that sort of problem.

At a minimum, traitors should be expelled from any position of authority. A selective hardening is necessary (and it won't be tolerant of the Leftists) We still may have enough left of the "Rule-of-Law" that we can change our Government peacefully.

If not, then our enemies will change things for us.

Like I said, 5-10k whatevers.
Doesn’t have to be Hispanics either.
And doesn’t mean they would “win” either.
Again how prepared are we?

Coordination with State and Federal officials is exactly what is needed for volunteer forces to be effective.

That delegation of authority needs to be explicit and accompanied by considerable publicity.

Unofficial policy needs to be "don't ask, don't tell" with respect to actions of the volunteers. Quite bluntly, the volunteers are going to kill people under "rules-of-engagement" that are not permitted to the Army or the Police. Authorities must extremely reluctant to look into such incidents and even more reluctant to prosecute.

Volunteers will eventually get into trouble and be outnumbered by enemy forces. When they call for help, the Army should come running in. Questions can be asked later and in private.

Some volunteers will be loose cannons, and must be sent home (or even quietly arrested and prosecuted). There must be arrangements in place to deal with this.

You want effective volunteers - this is how you get them and keep them.

The official rules-of-engagement for the Army and Police need to be explicit and lenient on use-of-lethal-force. Essentially, the commanders must be authorized to order armed hostiles killed on sight and without warning. They should be authorized to order unarmed hostiles killed after repeated clear warnings and failure to disburse. They should be authorized to conduct cross-border raids in some conditions. Collateral damage, injuries, or deaths of "non-combatants" should be a secondary consideration.

Journalists in the area should be treated as probable spies and saboteurs. Their movements should be restricted (by arrest if necessary).

This is War. Treat it as War. Win it decisively.

I don’t know what a jersey barrier is

They are those short precast traffic barriers usually standing all of 3 foot tall.
