In child health care, the bond of trust between parents and doctors is critical. But when it comes to the treatment of youth with gender dysphoria, that bond is under a new threat. As part of an investigative series, I have been in touch with an overwhelming number of parents of trans-identifying youth who feel their voices are being shut out by activists.
One online group — with a membership of over 1,000 parents — has written a moving letter to the American Academy of Pediatrics about their recent one-size-fits-all, trans-affirming policy statement. They beg for consideration. They beg for critical thinking. They beg for their children. Here is their response:
Dear American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP):
We need you and our children need you. There is a great and growing disservice that needs your attention, scientific curiosity, critical thinking, clinical experience, and compassion.
We have serious concerns about the AAP’s Policy Statement “Ensuring Comprehensive Care and Support for Transgender and Gender-Diverse Children and Adolescents” (Rafferty et al., 2018). While we believe that AAP’s intention behind this position statement is to protect the health of today’s gender-diverse youth (children through young adults), we are deeply concerned that the clinicians using affirmation therapy are inadvertently inflicting physical and psychological harm.
We are members of a rapidly growing online community of over 1,100 parents of transgender-identifying youth who need your help. We have no unifying political affiliation. We empathize with mature transgender-identifying people who deserve respect. We need to stop the harm to our children.

Can’t believe a parent can’t handle the situation. It’s not a medical issue. It’s psychological as if it needed to be explained. 18 is too early to chop it off. Be miserable until age 30 THEN go ahead with it. They will still be making a mistake.
To quote the late Bob Grant... “it’s a sick world and getting sicker.”
These parents should stop emotionally abusing their disturbed children. The only doctors they should be talking to are psychiatrists and psychologists. There IS something very wrong with their kids...and the parents.
They are talking about little kids. Sometimes you want to be a boy, sometimes you want to be a pony. I blame “progressive” parents 100%. If gender disphoria is real, it is a mental illness and should be treated as such.

To those who coddle “trans” anything:
There are two sexes. Male and Female.
Anything else is an imagination. If persistent, it is a mental illness.
Deal with the mental illness appropriately.
Start by dressing and behaving as a male if you are XY, but as a female if you are XX.
Instead of begging doctors to listen to YOU, maybe YOU should listen to REASON. Your children deserve better than indulgent, politically correct parents. They deserve guidance, instruction, and moral strength, which they don’t get if the authorities in their lives grovel before every left-wing fad that comes along.

You are stupid if you do not think that the culture and the current laws do not over reach parents all the time.
We live in a country whee children can have an abortion at 12 and it will be kept secret from the parents.

75-95% of the kids who identify as the opposite sex self-rectify within a few years. The few that don’t are likely sexually abused or simply abused, though cases of Mom hates men so I have to be a girl surely exist.
Dr. Deborah Soh brought up another issue - that many of the “trans” kids are very homosexual. Instead of being a butch lesbian, the identity movement says no, you’re a boy, let’s have your breasts removed and take testosterone. A feminine boy is told you’re not homosexual, you’re really a girl, and now it is OK for you to be interested in boys.
Being a parent of a trans kid is like being the owner of a vegan dog - you know who’s calling the shots.
tell Planned Parent hood that. There are adults who bring children there to get their hormones. Just like there are adults who bring children there to get their abortions all without parental knowledge.
Adults who will help the child find other legal places to live.
Child abuse, pure and simple. These “parents” aren’t trying to “deal” with a situation that’s come out of the wild blue yonder. Things like this didn’t happen in the old days. These kids NEED to be removed from their parents custody and never allowed any further contact with them.
Do the surgery then 50% probability they’ll be dead by 40!
