SHOULD we CONSIDER a SECURITY ZONE in MEXICO? (Sovereignty is at risk)

It's not my favorite solution. It's certainly not a permanent one.

But if thousands of migrants are going to make a point of showing our border impotence, we need an immediate answer.

The central problem, which many don't realize, is that while our border is a leaky sieve, caravans like this aren't trying to just break in, they're perfectly happy applying for asylum at the border and then being taken into custody, before being released due to overcrowding and then told to report for their hearing.

It saves them plenty of days of rough travel.

We could stop accepting asylum applications, but to do that, we first have to do this.

United States asylum law derives from the United Nations. The 1951 UN refugee convention and the 1967 protocol, to which we became a signatory in 1968, have been baked into our legal codes. Article 3 precludes a Muslim travel ban, Article 16 mandates free legal aid for refugees, Article 17 requires allowing a refugee to work, Article 22 mandates free education, Article 23, welfare, Article 26, travel anywhere within the United States, Article 28, travel outside the country, Articles 32 and 33 make deportation very difficult, and Article 31 prohibits imposing, “penalties, on account of their illegal entry or presence, on refugees”. United States courts have debated how to interpret these articles, but a leftist Supreme Court could easily use Article 33 to open up our borders.

And we would be obligated to process and possibly take in every refugee anywhere in the world. (Here's how the USA ends.)

(Read this->) When the United States signed on to the convention in ’68, LBJ and his people lied to the Senate and to Americans and assured them that it wouldn’t change anything about our system. The convention however is the most damaging piece of immigration law that doesn’t carry Ted Kennedy’s name.

"Accession to the Protocol would not impinge adversely upon established practices under existing laws in the United States," LBJ had claimed. "State laws are not superseded by the Convention or Protocol." He described it as a "symbolic element" in his message to the Senate.

There’s nothing symbolic about it. And until it’s gone, our borders can never be secure.

A security zone would have a number of advantages.

First, it immediately ends the asylum problem. If the migrant caravans can't reach the border, they can't apply for asylum. Individuals would still get through, but it wouldn't be the same kind of flaunting of our impotence.

Second, it helps reduce the cartel and organized crime situation that's feeding some of the border craziness. Right now border personnel are facing heavily armed drug traffickers with access to more firepower than some armies.

Third, it would avoid a number of legal issues that have come up when it comes to using the military inside the United States. Those issues are not valid, but lefty judges can exploit them.

But it would only be a very temporary answer.

What LBJ deceitfully signed 50 years ago must be immediately rescinded, cancelled, voided, dumped, ASAP!

"LBJ and his people lied to the Senate and to Americans and assured them that it wouldn’t change anything about our system. The convention however is the most damaging piece of immigration law that doesn’t carry Ted Kennedy’s name."

"Until it's gone, OUR BORDERS CAN NEVER BE SECURE." (shouting for emphasis)

Our sovereignty is at risk- eroded for fifty years. If the influx of millions of 3rd-World aliens is not curtailed, we will be destroyed from within our midst.

Civics 101--Sovereignty - Sovereignty is the full right and power of a governing body over itself, without any interference from outside sources or bodies. In political theory, sovereignty is a substantive term designating supreme authority over some polity.

I think we should line the US border with walls staggered in such a way to limit sight lines and position electronic countermeasures every mile to prevent drones from flying over and kill cellular signals.

Electronic countermeasures, CCTV, and US air dominance at the southern border would act as force multipliers for the boots on the ground until ICE and the Border Patrol are sufficiently funded and stand at appropriate force levels.

Yes, create a demilitarize zone with pill boxes until wall is built.

I’ve been saying for a long time that we need to carve out safe zones in northern Mexico. Likely need to occupy the area all along the US border. Mexico cannot stop us. We can then repatriate all Mexicans in the US to those safe areas. Long-term, help Mexico accept back its citizens, help Mexico absorb or repatriate their guests. Once they can be trusted, turn these safe areas back over to them.

1. Set up the Security Zone in Mexico.

2. Cancel Lyndon Johnson’s 50 year mistake. It’s Over.

3. Pass legislation on USA Sovereignty- Sovereignty Immigration Laws.

4. Build the Wall.

5. Pull funding from bogus self-enriching religious refugee charities that collect millions of tax dollars- especially the 2 biggies-Catholic Charities & Lutheran Re-Settlement.

6. Revoke Sanctuary city statuses as they challenge USA sovereignty.

7. Penalize- severely, employers who hire illegals.

8. Deport all overstayers, criminals, and non-processed squatters.

9. Deny all social services to refugees who are gaming them at the expense of the American poor.

10. Build the Wall, some more (higher, wider, stronger, whatever it takes.)

I fear we may be seeing a developing Palestine on our own border with Mexico, serving the same purpose as the Palestine in the Levant.

So are you proposing an armed invasion of Mexico so we can do this “carve out”? What about Mexico’s sovereignty? Are you asking for a declaration of war?

You can say it as long as you like but its impractical and dumb and will never happen. We enforce our sovereignty by having borders, not by keeping people from approaching them from the outside. Build the damn wall!

Good point — we need to deal with the drones.

I’ll post my earlier suggestions [refined a little] to ‘all’.

Airborn loses its mobility the second they jump from the plane.

They are lightly armed, low on supplies.

We need to confront them close to the border. Better logistics and support.

Call it a ‘disaster area’ or zone under martial law. Or take northern part of Mexico if laws get in way within our borders.

We need earthworks ASAP. We need to jam drone signals to blind their drone scouts. I would prefer a no-fly-zone as well and we should keep satellite feeds close to the vest in that area. Naval perimeter at adjacent coastlines. Armored river craft patroling the Rio Grande.

Skunk water repellant. Flash bang grenades dropped to simulate bombs. Recordings of combat sounds to spread panic. A daisy cutter above the water to look like a mushroom cloud — easily mistaken for a nuke.

Rubber bullets, foam bullets, and sealed cases of conventional ammo which sergeants can quickly open if permitted.

Leaflet drops.

Loudspeaker warnings.

And a literal wall of fire.

There’s no proposal of an armed southern invasion. Mexico is one of THE most bribable places on the planet.

Mexico has deliberately sent MILLIONS of their poorest most illiterate people to sponge off the USA.

USA will send a few thousand of our very best men & women to temporarily occupy their land. It will be a mere fraction of what they have essentially permanently dumped on US soil. And they don’t have to feed, clothe, house, doctor, or educate our ‘government aide social welfare refugee troops.’

Build the damn wall!

Super idea! Fantastic! I love it!

One small problem...

What kind of a wall can you build in a week?

I suggest Trump send buses to pick up these invaders at the border and drop them off at the homes of America’s ‘elite’ who keep harping we shouldn’t build a wall.

Then publish the names and addresses of these elitists.

For those who refuse to participate, publicly ask why they keep their doors and gates locked when they want those of America kept wide open.

Bloom’n hypocrites.

Just a thought, but may be should just ask all these countries to vote on statehood. Then set up enterprise zones for economic development. Their citizens would become “provincial citizens” and exempt them from paying taxes and receiving any welfare benefits for 20 years as well as not being able to vote in any federal elections. If these new states do not show economic viability after 20 years they revert back to their own sovereign state.

This should take away any incentive for them to migrate.

> What about Mexico’s sovereignty? Are you asking for a declaration of war?

We should have declared war on Mexico years ago, when they stopped even pretending that they were not at war with us.

The handing out of pamphlets en masse telling people how to get to the US and claim benefits here should have been the proximate casus belli, although there are a great many such acts of war from Mexico that would qualify.

I suggest we drop leaflets with the addresses of ‘The Elite Welcome Wagon Progressive Leaders’ promising the refugees everything: food, housing, jobs, pot, booze, women, etc. whatever they desire.

Something like what you suggest is probably unavoidable in the long run. Another fact about Mexico is that most of the corruption and takers are concentrated in the south of the country (roughly below the Tropic of Cancer where the Baja Peninsula ends) whereas most of the makers, industry and foreign own factories are located in the north.

Mexico is, in fact, two countries of makers and takers not so different from the United States other than that they are more neatly divided. Jobs are, in fact, plentiful in the north though, of course, do not pay as well as north of the Rio Grande.

Were a border between the maker and taker portion of Mexico enforced, I suspect it would be a generation (maybe even less) before you would have a functioning nearly first world state in Northern Mexico, certainly as well off as Costa Rica, maybe even as well off as Chile.
