I remember gender from French class, where nouns would have a gender. Lots of times, that would mean adding an e to a noun.

The "author" is parsing "Gender" and "Gender Identity."
Gender is hard-coded - there is no legitimate scientific debate arguing against that.
What these whack-jobs are doing is arguing environmental and other factors determine "gender identity" which is really nothing more than trying to rationalize a mental illness into normalcy.
No serious scientist can legitimately argue that XX and XY don't determine gender. They absolutely do.

I was taught in grade school that, in the English language, gender is a term that applies only to PROnouns and there are three genders, masculine, feminine and neuter. When Linda Ronstadt recorded a song titled, “Poor, poor, pitiful me” which contained the line, “He was a credit to his gender” is when I began to notice a trend to use the term gender rather than sex to refer to male or female, the current madness seemed to proceed from that and it really is madness.
Words are defined by the masses of people who use them, and dictionaries get updated as language evolves, not based on expert opinions of what a word means, but based on the popular usage of that word by the people that use them, and outside of a handful of leftist enclaves, almost everywhere else gender means the same as sex.
So unless there is some national referendum where people agree to abide by the meanings of all words decided upon by so-called experts, these self-appointed language gestapos need to get kicked to the curb every time they open their mouths.
