The US under Obama armed these people and facilitated their insurgency against Assad because the US was supporting the gas pipeline that Qatar and Saudi Arabia wanted to build across Syria.

When Syria denied the request to build the pipeline then the US (Obama & John McCain) met with, funded, and armed the ‘rebel’ groups some of whom later coalesced into ISIL and then ISIS.

And while you might denounce that as ‘utterly moronic drivel’ the facts that support this assertion are published on Free Republic.
