Kinda reminiscent of a rowdy North Atlantic.

I’ve been watching it throughout the day.
All that water heading downstream toward Austin.

I was driving west from Bastrop to Del Valle on 71 when I went over a bridge. The sign said Dry Creek but as you might guess, it wasn't dry at all.

The ground in my dogs' kennel in Del Valle is saturated. I put down some straw but it just keeps raining. Had to move the dogs to the garage. Temperature is in the 40s and 50s but with blowing rain and a north wind it feels a lot colder.

Lake Travis water level chart

Some reports I heard today said Lake Travis, just west of Austin, would reach full capacity as a result of the upstream flooding. From the chart, it looks like the water level has exceeded the full pool level.

I drove by Mansfield Dam (the dam that forms Lake Travis) about noon today and saw a lot of cars parked on the loop road that goes under RM 620. Apparently folks were watching a high water release from Mansfield Dam. The river was much higher than normal downstream of the dam flowing on into Lake Austin but did not appear at flood levels downstream then.

Supposed to get to 29 feet. The record is a ludicrous 51 feet from back in the 1800s! Then some over 40 feet up to the 1930s. There have been more recent crests but “only” up to 34 feet. I’m guessing there must have been a bunch of water management/diversion projects for things to never get that high again. Or do we just not get rainfall like they used to get?

You could make a country song out of all the one- and two-line posts on this thread.

Stevie Ray Vaughn ~ Texas Flood

Well there’s floodin’ down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there’s floodin’ down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I’ve been tryin’ to call my baby
Lord and I can’t get a single sound
Well dark clouds are rollin’ in
Man I’m standin’ out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin’ in
Man I’m standin’ out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin’
Man it’s about to drive poor me insane
Well I’m leavin’ you baby
Lord and I’m goin’ back home to stay
Well I’m leavin’ you baby
Lord and I’m goin’ back home to stay
Well back home are no floods or tornados
Baby and the sun shines every day

Last I heard the Mansfield Dam had 4 floodgates open. They haven’t opened any floodgates on the Buchanan Dam yet, but it’s 95% full up.
