South Korean President Moon Jae-in called on the U.S. to officially declare an end to the Korean War during an interview Friday, adding that the North had promised complete denuclearization.
If North Korea takes certain measures, the end-of-war declaration would be a political statement that would announce that the long-standing hostile relations between Pyongyang and Washington had ended, Moon told the BBC, adding that he wanted the declaration to happen at the earliest possible date.
The Korean War, which began in 1950, technically never ended, as only an armistice was signed in 1953. It will only officially be declared over once a peace treaty is signed.
The United States has long taken the stance that it would not officially declare an end to the war or remove sanctions until the North made permanent changes regarding denuclearization.
Moon said that Kim Jong Un wanted to rid his country of nuclear weapons for economic development but also wanted to ensure that the country's safety was guaranteed....

Cough up the Pueblo.
No kidding. Not until all American soldiers buried on enemy land is brought back home.
“Trust, but verify”...R Reagan.
How is an old pile of scrap metal important versus 30 million people dead in the United States? We can’t go back and fix all of LBJ’s f*** ups, that’d take years.
“Cough up the Pueblo.”

You have that right, Paladin2! And we should *never* give up our nukes.
Deeds, not words. Once the process is well underway, the armistice can become permanent.
It would be another sign of goodwill in the ongoing process.
An official declaration will come *after* the demolition of NK’s nukes.
Same-same Vietnam but for treasonous dems.
Oh, yeah, right. Ha!
I’ll see you that declaration and up it to total abandonment.
Turn it into a tourist attraction. Not exploitative but as a Cold War remembrance like Pearl Harbor.
We could certainly do a better job.
Again, we are at a stalemate.
We insist that NK provide a verifiable inventory of their nukes and ICBMs, FIRST.
NK wants a peace treaty with the UN first, to get the UN out of the sanctions business.
We are not going to blink, full sanctions until they give in.
BTW, Pakistan just launched a Nodong clone that may have been done on behalf of NK, more to come.
I strongly suspect NK will use Pakistan to further its nukes and missiles.

Been getting some “spidey tingles” about Moon...glad I trust Trump and company to not be patsies.
You trade promises for promises and concrete action for concrete action. Only a doofus will trade concrete action for a promise, except in the case of those of us forced to buy insurance by law.
Moon is a looney.
The U.S. would not simply “declare” and end to the Korean War.
There would have to first be a treaty, and before the treaty would have to be treaty negotiations, and within the treaty terms, condtions and a timetable of conditions to be met would be placed, and need agreement on. Once that complex treaty was hammered out and agreed to, with its demands and timetable, then the treaty could be signed and the implementation process of the treaty could begin. That process could come to a halt, from the U.S. perspective, if timetable elements of the treaty were violated by North Korea.
I think Moon is a Chi-com controlled dupe.
