Capitol Police arrested more than 100 people on Friday for unlawfully demonstrating while protesting against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
In a statement, the police said that 101 people were detained and 78 individuals were arrested throughout the Senate office buildings for crowding, obstructing or incommoding.
An additional 16 people, identified as males, were later arrested between East Capitol Street and Maryland Avenue, NE, police said. They were also charged with crowding, obstructing or incommoding.
Capitol Police Arrested 101 people on Capitol Hill today during anti-Kavanaugh protests.
Frank Thorp V (@frankthorp) October 5, 2018 Authorities said six people were arrested and charged with unlawful conduct for their actions at the Senate Gallery in the U.S. Capitol Building.
The arrests came as the Senate moved forward with a procedural vote to end debate on Kavanaugh's nomination. The chamber is expected to vote on his confirmation Saturday.
The protests came as senators viewed as swing votes on Kavanaugh's nomination, including Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), announced they would vote in favor of Kavanaugh's confirmation.
Hundreds of people have descended on the Capitol as the judge's confirmation process nears its conclusion.
On Thursday, Capitol Police said that it had arrested more than 300 people for "unlawfully demonstrating" in multiple Senate Office Buildings. Actress and comedian Amy Schumer and actress Emily Ratajkowski, who was spotted next to Schumer, were among those arrested on Thursday.
The protests occurred a week after Kavanaugh and his first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, alleging that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in the 1980s.
Kavanaugh has fiercely denied the accusation. He has also denied sexual misconduct claims from two other women, Julie Swetnick and Deborah Ramirez.
They were just expressing their 'justifiable' anger.
Yeah, were they processed in place and fined $50? If this the same as usual, it is nothing more than security theater.
They were simply given time outs and forced to sit on rubber mats to nap and suck their thumbs until they were able to compose themselves. Upon leaving the safe zone, each will receive a colorful gift bag of assorted gluten free snacks and participation buttons.
I don’t think it even goes on their record. If it did, maybe they would make better decisions.
I would go along with that as long as they're first neutered or spayed. Bunch of wild animals should be put down before more innocent people (us) get hurt.
At $2,000 each that would be $200,000 if we only fined them
Is there a legal definition of “incommode”?
There need to be civil fines which increase with each subsequent arrest. They also would make them have a record. “Catch and Release” does not work. It’s a resume enhancer for leftists.
Until that number is 1000, pffft!
Even if they were booked, they would be afforded the due process they tried to deny MK.
Were those males wearing suits? If so, they are Soros.
Heads require breaking.
A quote has stuck with me from a 1911 New York Times (re: The Sullivan anti-gun Law): “There is more justice in a policeman’s nightstick than in all of the courts of New York.”
Throw the book at them and make them all serve hard time in a federal prison.
