WSJ, NYT: Kavanaugh Smear Shows We’re All Deplorables Now
Hot Air ^ | October 05, 2018 | ED MORRISSEY

Welcome to the new “Democratic norms,” the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board warns today — as if the lesson could possibly have escaped anyone’s notice. Now that the FBI has found no corroboration for the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, the entire process — especially last night’s particularly despicable and McCarthyist smear from Dick Durbin and his fellow Judiciary Democrats — has been exposed as a character-assassination strategy in service to power politics, the WSJ’s editors write. If the left can do this to a well-regarded, mainstream, center-right jurist, they warn, it can happen to any of us:

Don’t think for a moment that this is limited to Kavanaugh, or Trump. If Democrats can gin up a massive character assassination on someone as mainstream as Kavanaugh, they can do so with anyone. They will do so by destroying norms and committing vast hypocrisies in the name of saving the norms and exposing hypocrisies, and as we have seen in this sorry episode of McCarthyism, much of the media will provide them with the cover to do so. The only way to prevent this is to punish its purveyors at the ballot box. And fortunately, that opportunity is only a few weeks away.

I have read that one of Kennedy’s conditions for retiring was that PDJT would appoint Kavanaugh to take his place. Kavanaugh is not the most Conservative Judge and has sided with the Left a number of times. I guess he’s still not Left enough for the Left. But the assassination of his Character is appalling and he deserves a place on the SCOTUS (never mind that senile Stevens’ opinion!)

Funny. Now that the deplorables have won, the WaPo wants to be deplorable too.

It’s like Rush says.

At the end, the press always comes around to point in hindsight to their wisdom. They will forget weeks and weeks to have history record the final moments developed in hindsight

Ok if Kennedy insisted it would have been nice if he would have defended Kavanaugh especially with that Marxist Stephens slamming BK as being unfit.

I’d rather be a deplorable than a corruptible.

Now that you mention it, Kennedy has been awfully quiet as his former protégé has been drawn and quartered.

Kennedy came out yesterday and demanded Kavanaugh be removed from consideration.

Wow, I stand corrected.

I didn’t realize Stevens was even alive any longer. It went right past me.

The Wall Street Journal is slow on the uptake. I’ve known for 18 years that the Democratic Party hates Americans.

The gist of the story is right, my beef lies with the smear of “McCarthyism”. History has proven the Mr. McCarthy was absolutely right. We are living with the result of not listening to him.

I’ve known it since the 1972 Nixon-McGovern elections.

First Republican in my family. Often disappointed in the poor representation we receive. But I would never be a RAT.

I’m very worried that, if he’s confirmed, he will feel the need to prove his neutrality by voting in favor of the left on all important issues. Instead, he should use this experience as proof positive that everyone on the left is an evil and dangerous psychopath determined to destroy civil society. Whatever they want must be denied them at all times and he needs to vote accordingly.

You are so correct. I’m hearing that reference more and more and those spouting it should know better - but as always, they aren’t capable of accepting the truth...
