The CIA and the American Psychological Association: Partners in crime
Pando.com ^ | Jun 15, 2015 | Mark Ames

In a report released late Friday, conveniently timed to fall into the news cycle hole, the American Psychological Association was officially implicated as an accessory to Pentagon and CIA torture.

As the New York Times explained:

The 542-page report, which examines the involvement of the nation’s psychologists and their largest professional organization, the American Psychological Association, with the harsh interrogation programs of the Bush era, raises repeated questions about the collaboration between psychologists and officials at both the C.I.A. and the Pentagon.

---

Much of what I learned about the psychology guild’s long and twisted relationship with Cold War military-intelligence programs came from researching one of the great Cold War murder mysteries: The 1985 assassination of CIA banker Nicholas Deak in his Wall Street high-rise by a homeless paranoid-schizophrenic drifter from Seattle named Lois Lang who had been contracted to carry out her hit by jilted mobsters from Latin America. (For more on this bizarre murder story, see “James Bond and the Killer Bag Lady”.)

country and carry out a professional assassination of a CIA banker who’d been hailed by Time magazine as “the James Bond of money”? I managed to get hold of Lang’s court records (Lang is still doing time in an upstate New York prison for two counts of second degree murder—Deak and his receptionist, Frances Lauder), and discovered that in 1975, she was discovered in a Santa Clara motel, completely nude and in a “catatonic” state. Lang was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, and put under the care of a CIA-connected Stanford psychiatry professor, Dr. Frederick T. Melges. Lang remained under Melges’ care for over a month that we know of, and seems to have gone completely over the deep end from that point on through her hit on Deak a decade later.

This is a pretty long and detailed article. I have excerpted the interesting parts, but it's worth reading the entire article, and perusing the many links it contains.

It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but it's not. The CIA's use of hallucinogens like LSD and psychiatrists to try to create "mind numbed robot assassins" is well known and completely documented in lawsuit testimony, Congressional testimony, new articles and books by those involved.

Christine Blasey Ford's grandfather, Nicholas Deak, was the CIA's banker, and was assassinated by such a person in his Manhattan office in 1985. This is even mentioned in his Wikipedia bio:

Nicholas Deak.

The connection with Stanford is interesting. From the article:

Dr. Melges was a psychiatry professor at Stanford Medical School. Melges also worked with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI), a major CIA and Pentagon contractor, on areas including brainwashing and mind control experiments during the Cold War. Again, the primary purpose being to study new technologies for interrogation and torture, secondary applications going towards studying the possibilities of exploiting highly “suggestible” subjects and getting them to do things — murders, couriers — they wouldn’t otherwise do, and of which they would have no memory in case they were caught.

Dr. Blasey-Ford is a research psychologist at Stanford. It's a big university and there is a lot of time separating Dr. Melges, who died in 1988, and Blasey-Ford's arrival, so I'm not sure that part of the story fits together.

But the fact that her grandfather was assassinated by one of the most clear-cut MK-ULTRA types is an amazing coincidence.

Apparently, the American Psychological Association has equal academic status with the Flat Earth Society.

Hooops! How close was CBF to her maternal grandfather? This happened in 1985, the mid-eighties (!!!) and during her questioning in the Senate she could not think of anything else that could have caused her any mental trauma except the unwanted groping by another high-school student. Strange...

Dr. Blasey-Ford comes from a CIA family. It's the family business, her grandfather's background is indsiputable. Even his Wiki bio explains it.

He father's role is more occluded, as you would expect. The CIA guards their history jealously. You can look up the companies listed in his bio and several of them appear to be shell companies. In D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

Some are known CIA fronts.

This stuff connects to the agenda of these folks:

2005 : (PHR/”PHYSICIANS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS” BEGINS “DOCUMENTING” ...-— see DR BLASEY FORD {See DIANNE FEINSTEIN’S WAR ON KAVANAUGH}, CHILE, MYANMAR, SYRIA, BLEEDINGHEARTATTACK) Since 2005, PHR has documented the systematic use of detainee torture by U.S. personnel in a series of groundbreaking reports. PHR has repeatedly called for an end to the torture and ill-treatment of detainees, a federal investigation into the role of health professionals in the U.S. torture program, and full criminal and professional accountability for any health professionals involved.

FEBRUARY 2012 : (PHR/”PHYSICIANS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS” CRITICIZES COURT DECISION -— See GITMO, BLEEDINGHEARTATTACK)
Physicians for Human Rights Criticizes Court Decision to Allow Force-Feeding, Posted on February 11, 2014
Translator, News Release
Physicians for Human Rights
New York, NY – 02/11/2014 A federal court today declined to stop force-feeding of Guantánamo detainees, allowing the inhuman and degrading practice to continue.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit declined to issue a preliminary injunction to halt force-feeding, a type of intervention that violates core medical ethics and constitutes ill-treatment.
“The rights of men being held in Guantánamo are being completely ignored, and the hunger strike is the only option they have left to protest their indefinite detention, which has lasted more than 11 years without charges for some of them,” said Dr. Vincent Iacopino, PHR’s senior medical advisor. “By allowing the cruel and degrading practice of force-feeding to continue, the court has essentially authorized the continuation of an abusive tactic that violates human rights and fundamental medical ethics.”
The detainees being forced-fed are being held in indefinite detention, which is in itself a violation of human rights. A preliminary injunction would have at least stopped force-feeding, which constitutes ill-treatment and could rise to the level of torture. A call for injunctive relief for ill-treatment or torture should be granted under both international standards and the 8th Amendment, which prohibits cruel and unusual punishment.
While the court did not immediately stop force-feeding by issuing an injunction, two of the three judges said the detainees did have a right to challenge the practice in court, paving the way for a continuing legal battle over the issue. The judges also pointed that that “force-feeding is a painful and invasive process that raises serious ethical concerns.” The legal challenge was filed on behalf of three detainees.

From Rachel Mitchell's analysis of her interview of CBF:

"It is significant that she used the word “contributed” when she described the psychological impact of the incident to the Washington Post. Use of the word “contributed” rather than “caused” suggests that other life events may have contributed to her symptoms. And when questioned on that point, said that she could think of “nothing as striking as” the alleged assault."

The allegations appeared in James Risen’s book:

NOVEMBER 2014 : (APA COMMISSIONS AN “INDEPENDENT REVIEW” AFTER RISEN’S ALLEGATIONS —— See BLEEDINGHEARTATTACK, GITMO, BOOK DEALS, FEINSTEIN, LEAHY, MCCAIN ) The APA commissioned an independent review by David Hoffman, a former federal prosecutor, in November 2014 after detailed allegations of complicity emerged in New York Times reporter James Risen’s book, “Pay Any Price: Greed, Power, and Endless War.” The book documented secret coordination between APA and U.S. officials to support the spurious legal and ethical justification for the Bush administration’s torture program, which relied on health professional monitoring of abusive interrogations to claim that they were “safe, effective, and legal.”
Hoffman’s report, based on extensive interviews and review of internal emails and documents, found overwhelming evidence of criminal activity by APA staff and officials, including:
1) Colluding with the U.S. Department of Defense, the CIA, and other elements of the Bush administration to enable psychologists to design, implement, and defend the post-9/11 torture program;
2) Allowing military and intelligence personnel to write APA ethics policies regulating their own conduct to ensure they were “covered” for their roles in the torture program;
3) Engaging in a coordinated campaign to cover up the collusion and blocking attempts to oppose these policies within the APA; and
4) Obstructing and manipulating ethics investigations into psychologists involved in the torture program.

Condoleezza Rice says she was stunned CIA mission was leaked
by Olog-hai · 9 replies
Associated Press ^ | Jan 15, 2015 8:51 PM EST | Matthew Barakat
Former national security adviser Condoleezza Rice told jurors Thursday she was stunned to learn that a classified mission to thwart Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions—now at the heart of a criminal leak trial—had been disclosed to a reporter. Rice testified for the prosecution in U.S. District Court at the trial of ex-CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling, 47, of O’Fallon, Missouri, who is charged with illegally disclosing details of the program to New York Times reporter James Risen. Sterling denies leaking any information to Risen. While Rice’s testimony helped establish the importance of the classified program in question, her testimony did not implicate...

Defiant on Witness Stand, Times Reporter Says Little

New York Times ^ | January 5, 2015 | By MATT APUZZO
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — After losing a seven-year legal battle, James Risen, a reporter for The New York Times, reluctantly took the witness stand in federal court here on Monday, but refused to answer any questions that could help the Justice Department identify his confidential sources. Mr. Risen said he would not say anything to help prosecutors bolster their case against Jeffrey A. Sterling, a former C.I.A. officer who is set to go on trial soon on charges of providing classified information to Mr. Risen for his 2006 book, “State of War.” The Justice Department first subpoenaed Mr. Risen to testify...

Here's an even better article, from the the links in the article above:

James Bond and the killer bag lady: New clues and a powerful Wall St. skeptic challenge the official story of CIA financier Nick Deak’s brutal murder

Lois Lang was tried, convicted and institutionalized under the assumption that she was mad. According to state psychiatrists, she targeted Deak because of random delusions, and her handlers were figments of her cracked imagination. The first judge to hear Lang’s case ruled her unfit for trial and sent her to Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center. She was sentenced eight years later, in 1993, when a state Supreme Court justice convicted her on two counts of second-degree murder and sent her to the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility upstate, where she remains. Conspiracy was never part of the trial.

Arkadi Kuhlmann has long scoffed at the court’s conclusion. Kuhlmann, then 35 and newly in charge of Deak-Perera’s Canadian operations, became CEO after Deak’s death. Like his Deak-Perera colleagues, he understood that many criminal account holders had lost millions when the firm went bankrupt in 1984. Deak’s subsequent murder, he felt, was no coincidence.

“I never believed that the whole thing was random,” said Kuhlmann, in an interview with Salon. Ditto the government inquiry that triggered the collapse preceding Lang’s rampage. “We were the CIA’s paymaster, and that got to be a little bit embarrassing for them,” he said. “Our time had passed and the usefulness of doing things our way had vanished. The world was changing in the '80s; you couldn’t just accept bags of cash. Deak was slow at making those changes. And when you lose your sponsorship, you’re out of the game.”
