Confirm Brett Kavanaugh
Wall Street Journal ^ | Confirm Brett Kavanaugh

Posted on 09/28/2018 3:32:12 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Thursday’s Senate hearing on Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination was an embarrassment that should have never happened. Judge Kavanaugh was right to call the confirmation process a “disgrace” in his passionate self-defense, and whatever one thinks of Christine Blasey Ford’s assault accusation, she offered no corroboration or new supporting evidence.

Ms. Ford certainly was a sympathetic witness—by her own admission “terrified” at the start and appearing to be emotionally fragile. Her description of the assault and its impact on her was wrenching. She clearly believes what she says happened to her. Her allegation should have been vetted privately, in confidence, as she said she would have preferred. Instead ranking Democrat Dianne Feinstein held it for six weeks and it was leaked—perhaps to cause precisely such a hearing circus.

Yet there is still no confirming evidence beyond her own testimony, and some of what she says has been contradicted. The female friend Ms. Ford says was at the home the night of the assault says she wasn’t there. The number of people she says were there has varied from four to five and perhaps more, but every potential witness she has cited by name says he or she doesn’t recall the party.

She still can’t recall the home where the assault took place, how she got there or how she got home that evening. She has no witnesses who say she told them about the alleged assault at the time—until she first spoke of it at a couples therapy session 30 years later in 2012. Mr. Kavanaugh’s name doesn’t appear in the notes of her therapist.

As for Judge Kavanaugh, his self-defense was as powerful and emotional as the moment demanded.

Amen!

Confirm him and stop the parade of crazies.

RBG is about to kick the bucket any day now. Need to get Amy Barrett prepared for confirmation next year or after Trump’s re-election.

As much as I love Justice Thomas, given his age he may also consider retiring. Could keep that seat conservative another 30-40 years vs. 5-10.

What happened yesterday in the Senate Judiciary Committee should be a chilling reminder of what can happen to an entire society, when the ruling political system strips its citizens of legal protections regarding the presumption of innocence. What we witnessed yesterday directed at Judge Kavanaugh was an unconstitutional presumption of guilt that was unknowingly revealed as a dark and haunting preview of a future Democrat Socialist state.

It’s historically imperative to remember that Mao Zedong imposed this very ideology on Chinese citizens during his “Cultural Revolution” from 1966-1976. As a result, during that ten year period, an estimated 100-million Chinese citizens (one-ninth of the population) were either executed outright or starved to death by the Chinese Communist state and its “Red Guards,” It can happen just that fast, when a citizenry is unwilling or unable to defend itself against governmental tyranny.

This is not ancient history, but rather a warning to America of how quickly a Constitutional Republic can be transformed into a mass-murdering genocidal regime. All it takes is ignorance, complacency and the acceptance of a cultural belief that the greater interests of American citizens are best served by an all-powerful federal government. Once ceded that kind of power, the state’s ‘commissars’ will shift all of their attention to protecting themselves against threats to their totalitarian rule — regardless of the human toll.

Don’t say that it can’t happen here because it certainly can; and, I fear that we’re passively watching its seedlings just breaking the surface in American soil.

Ms. Ford still has recourse through the courts. The police would laugh her out of the station with her flimsy accusation, but that’s besides the point.

Also, Breyer is 80.

Alito is not far behind Thomas, at 69.

Roberts is compromised (Obamacare), and Kagan/Sotomayer are commies.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if God replaced them all with really young, strict constructionist conservatives ALL appointed by POTUS?

Then our Supreme Court would rightfully be known as The TRUMP Court! (Dare to Dream, lol)

RBG and Breyer are possibles with Trump going to 2024.

Sotomayer has Type 2 diabetes. Not sure what life expectancy is with that.

Trump’s given us his list of nominees. I’m sure high school yearbooks and college party mates are already being dug up for all of them.

Very well said. If Clinton would’ve been elected we would already be there.

They’ve already admitted to starting on Barrett. But as you said, they meant it for harm, but God meant it for good.

It is truly amazing to watch His Hand at work.

We have allowed the crazies to run roughshod over the rest of us for far too long. It’s time to slap them down and say “we’re mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore.”

nice post. It’s shocking to see how many of our youth have been brainswaggled into believing that guilty until innocent is rational.

Bollards. She's no more emotionally fragile then she is afraid to fly.

Her “performance” wasn’t “wrenching”...it was retching.

A woman of her age, and accomplishment, - if she is of sound mind - would not still be devastated by a alleged “groping” way back in high school.

She acted like she had just been gang-raped in the other room before coming to the conference room. I haven’t seen “put on” like that in years.

Her “baby-cakes” voice and sing-song delivery was contrived, and played to the max.

Leaving the “party”, totally devastated because someone “groped” her, through her clothes, is ridiculous.

With no more moral strength than that, I can’t imagine how she accomplished her education goals, got married, had a family, and navigated daily life in general.

The whole democrat show was a farce, from the beginning. Feinstein directed the play and it was a box office bomb.

Now, confirm Kavenaugh and may the media hound Ford on a daily basis (and Feinstein).

What’s truly terrifying is that the Democrats destroy you for your ideas, not really about something you did.

This is 100% about doing away with dissent. Because if you think differently from them, you’re evil.

. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We're already "there" in part, with the mass murder of the unborn. It's become easy to murder them .... who in our society is next? I think sights have already turned next to the elderly, disabled and weak, again 'easy' targets who cannot defend themselves if WE do not defend them. As a country, we've passed the edge of the slippery slope and are on our descent to where such actions can only lead - destruction of our society/culture and country. Hell awaits, both here on earth & beyond for those who instigate and continue to perpetrate such evil.

What we witnessed at the Kav hearing, was Democrats doing away with dissent.
Because if you dare to think differently from them, you’re "evil."

N-i-c-e take. Deserves a repeat.

I say this is another despicable legacy of the lawless Halfrican.

The events you so insightfully describe are Third World tactics used by tinpot dictators
in countries that are cultural zeros. The methodology to remove anyone standing in their way.

As I mentioned......it's the Halfrican's way.
