Kavanaugh Hearing Was The Democrats' Worst Nightmare
townhall.com ^ | Sep 28, 2018 | Mark Davis

In almost forty years of broadcasting and writing, I’ve spent a lot of time tracking the fates of the Republican and Democrat parties. In recent years, the main conservative thirsts have been for a more muscular and unapologetic conservatism and for the bright light of truth to be directed onto the darkest habits of modern leftists.

The election of Donald Trump has propelled us down a road featuring satisfying helpings of both. But on one stunning day, September 27, 2018, there arose Republican resolve like nothing in recent memory. The accompanying reputational suicide of several key Democrats tied a bow around a historic day for clarity.

The occasion was the totally unnecessary session of testimony by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his main accuser of sexual misbehavior, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. The occasion was needless because Dr. Ford’s story in no way rises to the level of credibility to dislodge the nomination.

No decent society smears people for life based on high school misbehavior, so even if the wholly unsupported story were true, there would have been a strong argument against its relevancy today.

As such, the rhythm became: five minutes of Ms. Mitchell poking through questions of fact and memory, interrupted by five minutes of Democrat grandstanding. Then five more minutes of Ms. Mitchell seeming to inch closer to a salient point, only to be buzzered by the need to recognize the next round of Democrat fawning and prattling.

..snip..

But as soon as Judge Kavanaugh completed his opening statement, it became clear what the afternoon matinee would contain: Republicans showing more spine than they have in years, accompanied by Democrats making total asses of themselves.

Today insured a Republican sweep in November with expanded Senate and House majorities and a Trump victory in 2020.

The Dems have been exposed.

He’s right. I didn’t watch much of Kavanaugh’s hearings, and I thought that the clips from the Fox interview showed him to be a bit timid.

What was required was a “throw-away-the-script” moment a la Clarence Thomas who masterfully turned the tables on the Democrats at his hearing in 1991.

Surprise, surprise. The Judge had it in him. He belongs on The Supreme Court.

I guess that fighting spirit that our POTUS has been showcasing might be rubbing off - Lindsey Graham was reborn as a fire-breathing Pentacostal preacher today!!!!

In an ironic way, his chequered past as the sidekick to the late Senator from AZ, and his waffling alter ego (”Linda”) made his searing indictment of the Democrats THAT much more “sticky” and convincing ...

Vote conservative. The liberal democratic garbage can never be allowed into power due to complacency. Use your voice, tell your friends and family, take people to vote.

The looks on the faces of Biden, Kennedy and Simon were priceless. I'll never forget it.

“If Feinstein thought it was important enough to advise Ford on what lawyer to hire, and then met with Kavanaugh without raising the issues that required a lawyer, shame on Feinstein...That is called a set up.”

I just saw Graham again on Hannity on Fox.

This guy is, I don’t even know what to say.

Somehow he has become the most respectable Republican I’ve ever seen.

His appearance on Hannity is worth watching.

I don’t agree with this dude on a bunch of stuff, and I have made fun of him, but I respect him for fighting for good.

I really f***in’ do.

Good work, Lindsey.

Not yet.

Until he has been confirmed, it’s still too early to pop champagne corks.

The truth is no one came out well from this absurd spectacle.

And the Democrats havd revealed themselves to a party willing to exceed all bounds of propriety for political gain.

I won’t rest until Kavanaugh has been confirmed.

He is going to remember how the “liberals” treated him and his family and he is likely to be the most conservative justice on the court. I don’t think he is going to give quarter to the likes of the democrats on that committee in any case brought before him. They refused to give him the benefit of the doubt in an attempted character assassination. They will not get the benefit of the doubt in their progressive schemes when the come before him at SCOTUS.

The democrats tried to destroy a man and they created a monster.

Long live Brett Kavanaugh.

Revealed? A party which holds the slaughter of alive, sensing, unborn humans as their cherished empowerment rite is nothing less than a dead soul clique on their way to Hell. We just witnessed the depths of their depravity from another angle today.

The look on the deer-caught-in-the-headlights Howell Heflin’s face when Thomas called the proceeding a “high tech lynching for uppity blacks” is something I’ll never forget.

That good ole’ Alabama boy looked like he just saw the hereafter ... he stuttered, stammered ... man the fear of the Lord was in him!!!

Author described and hoped for a reaction from a sane world.

Their (Democrats) base will not let them off the hook. And Dem politicians in search of more power will always double down.

There is no hope for a civil resolution going forward, unless people on the right decide the conflict is too great a burden and meekly surrender.

One Repub. PAC guy said he’d put one million dollars against any Republican who failed to vote Yes for Kavanaugh. Let’s apply that model here - why won’t he Mercers and others agree to put a million against each of those on your list? Nine wealthy patriots, nine million dollars, nine of the biggest scumbags under attack and hopefully GONE.

Maybe this fiasco will be enough to wake up the IL GOP enough to mount a credible challenge against Dick Turdbin. God, I would love to see him defeated!

The appointment process for a Supreme Court justice is not the time for the politics of conflict between the sexes or religious identity.

“You sowed the wind. For decades to come, I fear that the whole country will reap the whirlwind.” —Judge Brett Kavanaugh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRmGxgxMhO4&feature=youtu.be&t=5m

The next nominee must not be a person who could ever possibly allow accusations from one person based on that person’s sex to cause the accused to be convicted. The next nominee must be a judge who has a long record of decisions on constitutional freedoms and protections and must not be chosen based on one issue alone or issues that are not hotly contested in politics today.

The next nominee must be a person who will think with the head on his shoulders—not hormonal influences, romantic notions, a single, contemporary religious institution or emotional intuitions.

This is the U.S.A., and our Constitution is as exceptional and as relevant today, as it was over 240 years ago. It is not open to designs to revise it to include old foreign errors.

Let’s learn to act like Americans and vote like Americans. This is the U.S.A.
