Sweden's Advertising Ombudsman (RO) has criticized a Stockholm company for sexism after it used a popular meme alongside a recruitment advert.
The image, known by online communities as 'Distracted Boyfriend Meme', is based on a stock photo of a man turning away from his appalled to girlfriend to look at an attractive woman. Swedish internet service provider Bahnhof used the image alongside a jobs advert; in their take on the meme, the boyfriend was turning away from "your current workplace" to stare at Bahnhof.
Sweden's advertising watchdog RO has now ruled that the use of the meme was "gender-discriminatory", both due to presenting women as "interchangeable" and "sex objects" and presenting "a stereotypical picture of men seeing women as interchangeable".
The original posts shared to Bahnhof's Facebook and Instagram pages received hundreds of comments. Many of these criticized the alleged sexism of the image, and the advert was reported to Sweden's Advertising Ombudsman, the body which regulates the advertising industry.
.... Much more whining at the link.

Liberals have no sense of humor in any language or country.................
This from the former home of the Swedish Bikini Team.
A glance is one thing, but a full bore ogle is just crass.
The girlfriend needs to slap the dope upside his head then go on home .. she can do better.
And I say that as a full blooded testosterone totin’ male.
I imagine if you live in Sweden, it would be impossible NOT to be distracted by other women.
to clarify: not ogling per se, but while holding her hand ? no doubt
Nope. They don’t.
Fiction. Photo shoot. Staged photo. Advertising. Not real.
Looking is forbidden but alien raping is ok
Still, principle remains.
Sweden needs sexism, and quite a bit of it. It could also do with a bit of “xenophobia” to go along with it.
Girls look too at guys’ a$$es. They just more discrete about it. And their boyfriends don’t even notice.
This is like the least of Sweden’s problems. Although, if the girl in the red dress was wearing a burka, I guess the guy wouldn’t be in this predicament.
They should object to the ads that portray fathers as incompetent idiots.
And these people are descended from Vikings???
It's not so much about whether she can do better, but his demonstrating that he considers his current girlfriend to just be somebody to hang out with until someone better comes along.
Now, take the same theme and switch the sexes, and any man complaining about it would have been mocked. It's offensive because women are offended.
Dunno about ‘offensive’, but it just strikes me as at least disrespectful either way it’s presented.
this meme is just stupid - the two women look alike, this is a “grass is always greener” moment for me.
However, had it been “Caitlyn” Jenner in that red dress.....
