If the moderates hate Trump, then they won’t vote for him anyway, they’ll vote Democrat. Maybe he’ll maintain some establishment Republican support and perhaps some Trump supporters will hold their noses, but he’s really given the MAGA base nothing to vote for, so they may just decide to give the seat to a Dem than a RINO.
