Collins: Second Kavanaugh accuser should speak with Senate panel under oath
The Hill ^ | September 24, 2018 | Jordain Carney

GOP Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), a critical swing vote in the Supreme Court fight, said on Monday that she believed a woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct should speak with Senate staff under oath.

"I believe that the committee investigators should reach out to Deborah Ramirez to question her under oath about what she is alleging happened," Collins told reporters, when asked what she made of the latest allegation against Kavanaugh.

Asked if she believed Ramirez should appear at a Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled for Thursday, Collins added that she didn't.

"No because there hasn't even been an interview of her yet and I think that needs to take place first," Collins said.

Collins said on Monday that she remains undecided on Kavanaugh's nomination, which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pledging to bring to the Senate floor for a vote.

Agreed. Even Michael Avenatti should be subpoenaed and asked under oath to repeat his assertion about Kavanaugh being involved in a gang rape.

Ramirez’s story is so ridiculous that she won’t even give her name under oath.

Collins needs to shut up and let this thing go to a vote. If we can keep the rest of the Republicans we don’t need her vote

She is also apparently refusing to come out of her house in Colorado.

Her vote is not needed.

She is probably bluffing anyway. If she shoots down this nomination she is done. Will be unelectable.

Like so many others, Collins just loves being at the center of all of this with the media waiting with bated breath for her every lithping comment.

I know it’s a physical thing, but she sounds like a complete moron when she speaks

Collins is maneuvering to satisfy her lieberal voters. Pandering discreetly so-to-speak. I read it as she votes for Kavanaugh.

Should. Won’t. The left was hoping Kavanaugh would withdraw his nomination and not require any testimony from these bogus charges,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~As I have said before, North Dakota is my home state. If Heitkamp votes against Kavanaugh she is done.
Probably the same way with Donnelly in Indiana.
The people of Maine have never been able to figure out that Susan Collins was a democrat infiltrator from day one.
They need to place DiFi under oath as a key witness to this entire smear campaign. When did she decide to sit on the Ford letter and what or who informed her that not reporting it was better than reporting it?
Headline is wrong. She believes that the second accuser should speak to investigators under oath... first. This could disqualify her... or should.
" 'No because there hasn't even been an interview of her yet and I think that needs to take place first,' Collins said."
When did an interview of Dr. Ford take place? Who did it, and where did it take place? Anybody know?
"Ramirez’s story is so ridiculous that she won’t even give her name under oath."
Any so-called memories she claims she recently recalled should be omitted from any testimony, since her lawyer is not a medical doctor, and therefore not qualified to obtain past memories from anyone. Nor is the lawyer qualified to verify that these were repressed memories. If this was a court of law, this never would be allowed in as evidence.
