"In the coming days, Ford's decision to send a letter to Rep. Anna G. Eshoo, a House member with zero jurisdiction over or authority to investigate presidential nominations, rather than Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who has explicit jurisdiction, is going to get a lot more scrutiny."

"A plain reading of 18 USC 1001 suggests that in the matter of a specific presidential nomination pending before the U.S. Senate, statements made to a House member on that matter may not be covered by the statute's prohibition on false statements."

There is a reason so-called lie-detector tests are NOT admissible in court.

She sent the letter to Eshoo rather than Feinstein because had she sent it directly to Eshoo, that would be legally actionable should it turn out to be a lie. Not so by sending it to Eshoo.

That should read

& who advised her to do that?? Hmmm..
This has been a carefully calculated smear from the start! Ford & all her cohorts should be sued, locked up.

Glad you posted this. I follow Sean Davis’ twitter feed.

I saw this last evening, but was too tired to post.

This entire episode was planned well in advance by well-funded leftists in California who decided to destroy someone who has sterling establishment credentials, and, by many accounts, one of the finest legal minds in the country.

They forgot that money and arrogance don’t always win.

Ut, oh. No wonder she's hemming and hawing about testifying.

Ford's deliberate smearing and defaming an honorable jurist----endangering his family's life and liberties----
must be met with a generous measure of US justice.

Dontcha hate it when a comment you type bares no resemblance to what your fingers remember typing.

The letter is not relevant.

The comments of fact in Ford’s high school yearbook will be relevant and every Republican on the committee must question Ford about her ‘activities’ and ‘proclivities’ with boys while in high school.

Re #2:

True. But here’s an example of what we’re up against.

Republicans: Dr Ford passed a lie detector test but so did Ted Bundy.
Democrats/Media: Republicans compare sexual assault victim to mass murderer.

The letter is not relevant.

Uh -- whut?

The letter is far more relevant than anything else in this matter. I've been saying this for days.

Don't hold your breath. Not a single one will have the balls to ask her any tough questions.

Your advice is terrible.
Also Republicans won’t be asking her anything. Female outside council will be asking all questions on behalf of the Republican majority.

Go back and spend a few hours reviewing the C-SPAN archives on the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings.

The questions Anita Hill faced that did the most damage to her credibility were the ones asked by Orrin Hatch and Arlen Specter that related to her dealings behind the scene with Democrat operatives to make arrangements for her allegation to be documented.

In several instances she was asked the same question on the same day -- one in the morning and one in the afternoon -- and gave different answers to the same question.
