The attorney general’s office says it’s investigating allegations dating back as far as 1950.

The investigation will also include any allegations related to the cover up of sexual abuse or assault.

Please note: Our Attorney General is also running for Govenor in November. I wonder how that will play out. I know we've a lot of Catholics in our state, but I doubt this is being done for votes. More likely, the Penn. investigation has lit a fire under the Church. And with Frankie in charge, it looks like the civil authorities may have to take care of us.

I'm glad to see this! Son #2 was wondering if his marriage was invalid because the priest that conducted it (from Poland) turned out to be gay. Fr. BadGuy was busted at the local "gay park" in the act. Bishop never did tell us what happened to him, and of course any talk of victims in our parish was not permitted.

Time to come clean!

I attended several Catholic schools in the Detroit area as a child. Those nuns cracked us with rulers.

Not sure why Schuette is doing this..but in the 60s Catholic schools were the norm in the Detroit area, as best as I can recall.

I’m in the Kalamazoo Diocese and our bishop has been completely silent on condemning the misdeeds of his fellow bishops.

Sacraments work “Ex opere operato”. Christ did the marriage despite the sinfulness of the priest; He worked through an imperfect vessel. Also in Catholic theology your son and his wife married themselves. The priest was only a witness to this marriage covenant.

Oh Frank, don’t worry, his wife and I assured him (I in my most “motherly way, a sharp knock to his shoulder;) ) the wedding was legit! They’re still going strong!

The Pennsylvania Grand Jury investigation did not uncover anything new. It was all old stuff. The purpose of it was to generate publicity for the attorney general who is also running for governor.

In the 2002 - 2003 timeframe the Catholic Bishops instituted a program to deal with this issue. The big thing is that if there is a credible allegation they call law enforcement.

When I first heard of the investigation I wondered if the system had been circumvented. Turns out it was working.

BTW, why don’t attorney generals ever investigate sexual abuse in public schools, where it is rampant?

The Catholic Church has been covering up for its homosexual predator priest for decades.
This should have been addressed 30-40 years ago.
Almost every Archbishop and bishop has been a participant in the cover up.
It’s analogous to our current predicament in the DOJ.
There is no one to prosecute the guilty because they are all in on it.

“There is no one to prosecute the guilty because they are all in on it.”

If that be the case, then all of them need to be dealt with, quickly, harshly, and publicly, imo.

It’s similar to our political situation.

If everyone complicit in protecting predator priests stepped down, there would not be anything left of the Catholic Church hierarchy.

Same with our government, if everyone complicit in the Kenyanesian Usurpation was removed, we would have no government.
That’s why nothing is will be done about either.

The bible agrees with you.

William (Bill) Morrisette shot himself in the forehead with a .22 rifle back around 1979. He was a good friend in Jr. High. He was an alterboy at Our Lady of Sorrows church, Farmington, MI. Turns out the head priest, Father Gary, was molesting him. Bill went to Beahan jr. High, also run by the same church. As did I.

Rick Gautheir (sp?) was a deacon at the time. He was doing boys, too. And was an assistant scoutmaster, Boy Scouts troop 179, same area. He was grooming another friend. Not sure if he succeeded but I suspect he did. At a party at Gautheir’s house when I was 17, he invited a few of us guys (no girls) upstairs in his bedroom to watch porn. It involved a donkey. For real. I bailed immediately. My friend stayed.

Please tell whoever you think appropriate. Contact me if needed.
