It sounds like the opening for another stoner movie, maybe “Harold and Kumar Go to Heaven.” Giant bundles of marijuana, apparently containing individually wrapped five-kilo bricks, have been washing up on the shores of Florida since the approach of Hurricane Florence last week, possibly from a boat that was either capsized by the storm or an airplane drop that went awry.

Reminds me of the cop who found 10 pounds of pot in some dude’s house. He told the guy he was taking the whole 9 pounds down to the lab for testing. Said dude was lucky he only had 8 pounds on him. Said the 7 pounds he had was going to be hard to get out of. Said he could easily spend a couple years in jail for those 6 pounds. The cop put dude up against the wall and asked him where the 5 pounds of pot came from. Said nobody just happens to have 4 pounds of pot lying around, so he told dude he thought maybe he was a kingpin for having 3 pounds of grass on him. Dude argued, but the cop told him 2 pounds might as well be a ton in the eyes of a judge. Cop said the judge was going to throw the book at him for that pound of weed. Cop felt sorry for the guy and let him go since he only had... like ... one joint on him. For medical issues you know.

I found one on Coco Beach in the late 90's, but it was waterlogged. A couple others were found nearby.
We dragged them to dry shore and the lifeguards called somebody to pick them up.
You can be sure many have been kept by the finder.

Years ago, fishing for grouper off the coast of Florida. Saw a bale, hauled it in. Cocaine. First thought - We’re rich. Second thought, we’re dead when the guys come looking for it. We cut it up and threw it back in the water, so it would sink. Third thought - We’re busted. We had cocaine all over the boat. Headed back to dock and thoroughly washed the boat. Went to a restaurant and had grouper for dinner. What a day!

I looked down from the roof of the house to see her holding a big one gallon zip lock bag stuffed full with green stuff. My first thought, being in New Mexico, was that it was someone's roasted green chile stash.
I climbed down off the ladder and walked towards her. I was still a few feet away when the smell wafted over and I knew it was NOT green chile stash. Turned out to be a big bag of pot that had apparently been dropped in our yard while the carrier ran from police.
In any event, I called dispatch and they sent an officer down to my place. When he arrived, I grabbed the bag, handed it to him and explained how we came into possession of it. His response was simple and quick:
"Ok, thank you for reporting it. We'll take care of it." He shook my hand, turned around, placed the bag in the trunk of his cruiser and left. No report. No questions. No nothing.
The saying is true - cops always have the best stuff.
