President Trump has ordered that numerous documents involving the Russia investigation be declassified. The records have long been sought by Congress under lawful subpoenas. Yet, the FBI and Department of Justice have consistently obstructed the release of these materials under the guise of classified secrets. This is a convenient alibi all too frequently employed to cover-up wrongdoing and abuse of authority by those we entrust to uphold the law.
These days, overzealous government officials automatically designate nearly all matters as national security risks, regardless of whether they truly are.
Whenever the FBI orders Chinese take-out, it is labeled top secret because you know it involves the Chinese. False classification has reached absurd proportions.
How do we know? Every time information is declassified we learn that the material should never have been classified to begin with. It was nothing more than a subterfuge. Here are two recent examples:
In July, a substantial portion of the wiretap warrant applications presented to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court was declassified. It turns out that no vital sources or methods were revealed in a way that jeopardized either national security or the FBIs secret investigative techniques. Instead, we learned that much of the application to spy on a Trump campaign associate, Carter Page, was based on an unverified dossier that was funded by Hillary Clintons campaign and composed by a British spy, Christopher Steele, who was fired by the FBI for lying.....

He’ll cooperate. He’s not an idiot.
Google thinks they’re slick posting his booking photo as the first pic we see when searching his name.
Mr. Jarret is a patriot, despite any personal issues he might have. Or had (?)
Don’t care either way, he’s one of us.
I can’t wait to read his book.
There is cooperation, and there is an appearance of cooperation, with a few dozen varying degrees in the middle.
This all sits itself right on Obama, Hillary, Brennan, Susan Rice, Comey, Rosenstein, and Vallerie Jarrett's doorsteps. Witnesses must be eliminated.
There is. No excuse for Jeff to drag this out for one more minute.
There are Sessions defenders? What are they defending, his right to remain silent and let his country continue get hurt by leftist sleeze and internecine warfare? How sweet of him.
I don’t get this. If President Trump orders the documents declassified, they are declassified. At that point, nobody else gets a vote.
The President should order the holders of those documents to bring them to the White House immediately, and send federal marshalls to ensure that they do not “trip” and “accidentally” drop them into the shredder.
I remember back when I was in Jimmy Carter declassified several satellite programs by naming and discussing them ... ***poof*** just like that.
Uh huh. We’ve been assured three or four times that Rosenstein would be impeached or fired THIS TIME FOR SURE if he dared to not comply with Congressional orders. Well he didn’t and he’s still there.
Why would he need to be impeached? Trump could fire him out of hand.
This is nuts.
Trump is the Chief Executive Officer of the DOJ and every Intelligence agency.
He can pull up any document he wants on a White House computer and post it on the White House website.
The declassification statutes clearly allow the President to release any information that is in the vital public interest.
The fact that the DOJ and FBI are politically corrupt is in the vital public interest.
Just do it, Trump!
Rod: “There are so many documents that it will take us five years to find them all.”
The other documents you posted from the Obama era are completely amazing.
You have a great memory and a great archive.
I’ve never seen that executive order.
What’s this “fired” word they keep throwing around? It should be “arrested” and/or “prosecuted”. They’re all seditious criminals.
