Beware China's role as Hollywood's censor....

Hollywood producers are increasingly catering to the Chinese. This raises serious concerns over the strong media influence the 'Communist Party' could gain over global movie markets... And as China’s 'market power' continues to grow, Chinese audience appeal is likely to become the de facto Hollywood policy for approving scripts. That’s troubling.

It’s likely the Communist Party is aware of the sway they now have on American entertainment—and they likely intend to expand it....As 'Hollywood caters to the dominant Chinese market', more of this 'geopolitical propaganda' may (will) creep into domestic films, helping to promote Chinese values abroad and strengthening the view of the Chinese regime as a stable and efficient alternative to American democracy.

Chinese preferences on the global film industry noted that “Chinese society’s aesthetic preference for lighter skin can be linked to the more frequent casting of pale-skinned stars in films targeting the Chinese market.” Alongside this has come an increased drive to cast Asians and Asian-Americans in English-language films.

In liberal Hollywood, increased diversity initiatives, such as expanding roles for women and minorities, seem to increasingly promote progressive values but are careful not to come into conflict with the Communist Party.

Chinese censors are stepping in to fill the authoritative role producers desire, and are gaining the influence that such market power entails. Producers would be wise to think about the values they are conveying in the films they make, being careful to not cross the fine line between clearing Chinese censors and actively promoting the Communist Party’s ideals.

Hollywood producers are increasingly catering to the Chinese.

They catered to Hitler in the 1930s.

So the Left sees communist China’s influence as a bad thing because it’ll mean fewer black and hispanic actors/characters.

It’ll also mean more gratuitous asian characters (who apparently don’t count as “diverse”) in movies.

All you have to see is the remake of Red Dawn. It was originally supposed to be the Chinese invading, but forced it to be changed to the hapless NORKS.

Google already kowtows to the Chinese censors. Hollywood is just following their example.

I've well noted this past year the change of seeing a huge uptick is Asian actors, inserted in pretty much everything from commercials to Tv to movies et. etc etc

Lets remember they have purposely bought up Hollywood studios and other avenues seen and heard in the US as they realize fully the streaming capability of getting their message out. Especially toward the youth who couldn't identify communist propaganda if it slapped them in the face....let alone most adults today.

Hollywood doesn’t care as long as they get work.....the wannabee actors who will never quite make it line up at the Chinese productions doors in swarms.....as well as the has beens who can no longer get the top rolls.

“The Academy-Award winning ‘Call Me By Your Name’ was banned in China for its portrayal of homosexuality, and actions such as these are likely to reduce the sexual diversity representation in the larger budget films, such as those in the action, adventure, or science fiction genre. In liberal Hollywood, increased diversity initiatives, such as expanding roles for women and minorities, seem to increasingly promote progressive values but are careful not to come into conflict with the Communist Party.”

So... I’m going to have the Chicoms to thank for the reduction in senseless “diverse” characters appearing in movies? I think I’m having a moment of cognitive dissonance here.

Yes I’ve thought of that as well...it would curb Hollywoods “filth” however I’m not willing to trade that for Communist propaganda which frankly is sweeping asia and also creeping into Europe under the banner of the old” We are the world we are the children” sing song junk.

Well I watched one film where American soldiers were part of the headliners....at best they showed America as neutral or ‘leaving’ them hanging dry.

How much worse is Chinese Communist influence and control in Hollywood than American communist control?

We have lost the game when that is a question.
