John Kerry, Meet George Logan Is it a crime to meet with Iranian officials?
Wall Street Journal ^ | September 16, 2018 | Seth Lipsky

Posted on 09/17/2018 6:51:49 AM PDT by reaganaut1

George Logan, call your office. That’s my reaction to news that former Secretary of State John Kerry has, by his own account, been meeting privately with Iranian officials to try to save the nuclear deal.

Logan was the Pennsylvania politician whose unauthorized efforts to end the Quasi-War between France and America led to the Logan Act of 1799, which outlaws freelance diplomacy.

The New York Post has called Mr. Kerry’s conniving a “textbook violation” of the law. President Trump, after all, has pulled out of the nuclear accord and decided on a different course. Iran’s leaders, at least for the moment, are hanging onto the deal. Why not? It has brought billions to their coffers as they expand their military campaigns in the Mideast.

Last week the New York Times quoted “experts” as suggesting that the ayatollahs are “gambling” that Mr. Trump will be “crippled” in the midterm elections or swept out of office in 2020.

So have the Democrats been colluding with them? Or, as radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Mr. Kerry last week, has the former secretary of state been “trying to coach” Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif?

“That’s not how it works,” Mr. Kerry said. “What I have done is tried to elicit from him what Iran might be willing to do in order to change the dynamic in the Middle East.” He insisted he’d been “very blunt.” Mr. Kerry also told Mr. Hewitt that the administration appears “hell-bent-for-leather determined to pursue a regime change strategy” in Iran. “I would simply caution that the United States historically has not had a great record in regime change,” Mr. Kerry said. He added that it makes it “very difficult, if not impossible” for Iran to negotiate.

Yeah, when it came to Iran, Ronald Reagan was such a cowboy and Jimbo Carter was such a great negotiator. Right, horseface?

At a minimum they should take away his passport and any security clearance he has.

Trump’s fatal flaw is that he is unwilling to arrest his enemies even when they commit overt crimes. Very atypical for a man who worked in the NYC construction business for thirty years. He knows then either you destroy a committed enemy or the enemy will ultimately win. Can’t be cute.

It’s long past time that this sort of criminal sedition be prosecuted. Any Republican who had approached a world leader during Obama’s administration with assurances that the other side would soon regain control of the White House would have been drawn and quartered.

This makes me wish we had some sort of chief government attorney available to pursue such general matters. Maybe we could call such a person the “attorney general”?

This issue is a nothingburger. Yes, Kerry is a self absorbed asshole, but that probably isn’t against the law...unfortunately.

SEPT 2016-— officials from the State, Justice and US Treasury departments said Obama’s $1.3 billion to Iran was paid in cash on Jan. 22 and Feb. 5.

The billions came from a little-known fund administered by the US Treasury Department for settling litigation claims. The so-called Judgment Fund is taxpayer money Congress has permanently approved in the event it’s needed, allowing the president to bypass direct congressional approval to make a settlement.

The U.S. previously paid out $278 million in Iran-related claims by using the fund in 1991. Republicans have decried the payments as ransom, a charge that Obama administration has rejected.....a group of Republican senators announced their support for legislation that would bar payments from the Judgment Fund to Iran until Tehran pays the nearly $55.6 billion that U.S. courts have judged that it owes to American victims of Iranian terrorism.

UPDATE H.J.Ansari Zarif, the deputy for parliamentary and Iranian affairs within Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he would expose “everyone who allegedly accepted bribes” to facilitate Obama’s nuke deal with Iran. “... we will reveal which western politicians received monies during nuclear negotiations to make #IranDeal happen,” Mr. Zarif reportedly said.

NOTE: Mr Zarif is the FIL of John Kerry’ daughter.

We must always remember John Kerry's fake Winter Soldier event he organized where radical activists put on old uniforms from military surplus stores, marched as veterans to the White House and threw medals at the White House they also bought from surplus stores.

The fake veterans told fake atrocity stories along with John Kerry who told idiotic whoppers to the Senate. One of the few real veterans later recanted his story.

Given that Kerry’s objective was to actively undermine the foreign policy of the duly elect President, his actions were certainly criminal.

John Kerry’s whole career was built on a foundation of Logan Act violation, if not outright treason. He should have been prosecuted back in Nixon’s admin istration.
