Tanaya Lewis was arrested and will be charged as an adult

A Michigan teen accused of fatally stabbing a classmate was “smiling and laughing” during the attack, according to reports.
Two dozen students watched in horror as Tanaya Lewis, 17, killed Danyna Gibson, 16, with a kitchen knife in a classroom Wednesday at Fitzgerald High School in Warren, Mich., Fox 2 Detroit reported Friday.
“Witnesses said the defendant was smiling and laughing as she was chasing the victim,” Detective Donald Seidel of the Warren Police Department told a judge Friday, WXYZ-TV reported Saturday.
One blow penetrated Danyna’s heart, the station reported.
Prosecutors said Lewis screamed, “I’m going to kill her” as a teacher tried to shove her out of the classroom, according to the station.
Police said there was animosity between the two straight-A students over a boy.
Lewis is being held without bail on a capital murder charge.
She said "yes" to the judge when asked if she understood that she is facing life behind bars without parole.

I feel sorry for the family of this girl.
Two straight A students? You would think that both would recognize there is no point in fighting over a boy. Such a sad story for the murdered girl’s loved ones.

Whatever happened to ban bullying? Was that just about sheltering homosexals? What about everyone else who is bullied?

I of course don't know, but suspect some sort of grading curve might have been involved here.

Occasionally, student performance is lower than expected on a test. Instructors can choose to modify the student scores to equalize the scores.
A simple method for curving grades is to add the same amount of points to each student’s score.
A common method: Find the difference between the highest grade in the class and the highest possible score and add that many points.
Example: Curve a test score
If the highest percentage grade in the class was 88%, the difference is 12%. You can add 12 percentage points to each student’s test score.
If the test is worth 50 points and the highest score is 48 points, the difference is 2 points. You can add 2 points to each student’s test score.
You can curve grades in Blackboard Learn in two ways:
Method 1: In the Original Course View, download the test’s Grade Center column, apply the appropriate curving calculations in a spreadsheet program, and upload the resulting grades into a new Grade Center column.
Method 2: Manually override each student’s original test grade.
