Furnished apartments are still a thing and when done on the scale of a large commercial leasing company, every single unit looks the same with the same furniture, etc., etc. The South Side Flats have only been open since around 2015.

Basically, any tech you might imagine a Clinton would use to maintain plausible deniability should be avoided.

Random aside: it appears possible that G3 and 7400 G4 Powermacs may be immune to Spectre and I’ve recently learned that TenFourFox has maintained a parity version of Firefox for these. I’ve got to test this software. 7450 G4s are said to be somewhat vulnerable but unless you’re attacked under optimum conditions they may not be able to get much. G5s are likely in the same boat as Power7 and later chips, not especially at risk or resistant.

I see, so in this case all the apartments have identical furnishings?

Is there a link to that? Maybe I missed that link. Thanks.

Was his door unlocked? In Dallas? Yikes! Nobody should leave doors unlocked, but especially not in big cities.

And, no, I am not blaming the poor victim. Just an observation. It always amazes me when people leave doors or windows unlocked especially at night.

Makes me wonder, how would she ever locate the correct patrol car when they're all identical?

BIG number painted on top and the cars have key fobs with a button you can push to locate the correct one.

I was speculating, but I do live in Dallas and I recall this apartment complex advertising that units were offered fully furnished if desired when it opened.

Most cops lock everything. They spend their lives locking and making sure everything is secure, especially their homes. Did she live on the ground floor? Did she not lock and deadbolt her apartment when she left? If so and she did not live on the ground floor, and if there were no signs of forced entry, would that not set off a light bulb making her immediately think that she had the wrong apartment? Especially if they’re all identical?

This report is hard for me to believe.

In addition, most cops are trained when they’re off duty, don’t play like they’re on duty, because you have no radio, no backup, no support. Why not walk down the hallway if she was confident there was an intruder in her apartment, and use her cell phone to call her station for backup?

I certainly wouldn’t barge into my residence if I was confident there could be dangerous armed criminals inside. No way! Would you?

You can buy a lockset of 8 doorknobs and deadbolts and 24 identical keys for not much more than a double lockset. Per unit, it’s cheaper.

We did this at our single family residence and now 1 key opens every door lock on the property.

Stupid/cheap builders and landlords could easily scatter them around the complex, assuming that as long as nobody knows their key may open multiple units that it won’t be a problem.

Until it is.

Not really - it was just a few years ago and it was all over the local news - it’s in an area that was crap and is now being gentrified. To use an LA analogy, it’s as if part of Watts was being redeveloped into yuppieland and the media were trumpeting the improvements as if the prior residents of the area would automatically have their lives improved. Coverage for days.

See post 61 above - the building’s units are the very latest in residential proximity keyed locks. You can leave your key in your pocket or purse and walk up to the door and it will unlock before you touch the handle.

She’ll be able to tell all that to the judge, as she’s now being charged with manslaughter.
