White House says anonymous 'coward' behind NYT op-ed should resign
The Hill ^ | September 5, 2018 | Tal Axelrod

Posted on 09/05/2018 3:01:56 PM PDT by jazusamo

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders ripped the anonymous senior White House staffer who wrote an op-ed for the New York Times slamming President Trump’s conduct.

“The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States,” she said in a statement. “He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people.”

This coward should do the right thing and resign,” she added.

The statement follows criticism from Trump himself, who called the op-ed’s author “gutless.”

The author of the op-ed wrote that there are multiple people in the administration who are acting as a check on the president’s “misguided impulses.”

“We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous. But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic. That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office,” the staffer writes.

The White House aide says meetings with Trump often “veer off topic and off the rails” and slams the president as “amoral.”

“The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making,” the staffer says.

Any successes from the White House “have come despite — not because of — the president’s leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective,” the author wrote.

he adds.

Sanders’ statement also issued a defense of the president.

“President Trump has laid out a bold and ambitious agenda. Every day since taking office, he has fulfilled the promises he made. His accomplishments in less than two years have been astounding,” she said.

The Trump administration has repeatedly railed against The New York Times, slamming it as “fake news” and labeling it the “failing” New York Times.

“We are disappointed, but not surprised, that the paper chose to publish this pathetic, reckless and selfish op-ed. This is a new low for the so-called ‘paper of record,’ and it should issue an apology…This is just another example of the liberal media’s concerted effort to discredit the president,” Sanders said.

Anonymous means imaginary, since the source of the op-ed is the Slimes.

If I'm wrong, I'd guess that it's Jeff Sessions that wrote the swill. Thanks jazusamo.

Lodestar could be a word inadvertently (stupidly) used by someone associated with Pence in the NYT piece.

I could also be a word intentionally used by someone completely outside the circle as a fragmentation grenade to cause chaos inside the White House. Exactly the kind of move I would expect from John Brennan's circle....

This has Alinsky written all over it.

I agree the person is non existent.

But assuming it is a person, if we ignore the whole thing, how pissed would that make him/her.

I had no idea her husband hated POTUS.

Then Trump needs to kick her ass out of the door. However, she has a career to worry about. Doing something like this would be the end of that.

The left won’t have anything to do with her other than using her or her husband to “get Trump”

Anyway, I think this is all BS to try to gaslight POTUS and his voters.

Note the word “lodestar” and the talk about morality. That’s all classic Pence.

Conveniently, the only person in the administration who can’t be fired.

Exactly. My take: ‘Lodestar’, a word/term VP Pence has used quite often, is a way to phony, see right through it, identity revealing of the ‘insider’ to let just slip into the op-ed. I don’t buy any off this jazz. Just another in the hounding and hammering attempts against our GREAT Pres. Trump.

The biggest mistake President Trump has made to date is forcing Steve Bannon out.

Unfortunately, I believe egos got in the way of that relationship.

At the end of the day, Bannon was fiercely loyal to President Trump and his agenda. He was going to fight to the end for it, and he knew who the rats in the White House were.

With him gone, I’m not sure who to even trust anymore.

I’m with you. Pray every day.

Or could be a fake trying to appear like Pence.

He said it on the Fox All-Losers...I mean, Fox All-Stars at 6pm. He said that outside of the unprecedented nature of an anonymous editorial in the NYTimes, the nature of the complaints were so small and so petty compared to the huge benefits Trump has brought to the country. That, from York!

Precisely. I don’t believe VP Pence is foolish enough to get caught slipping like that. It’s absolutely someone who wants everyone to believe it’s VP Pence though.

This is like why no one mocks Islam in movies but all mock Christianity. Same reason.

You say these things about ineligible puppet-in-the-white-house closeted gay Obama, you get the “motiveless robbery shooting” death like Donald Young.

Trump, like Christians, doesn’t murder their enemies.

Although I said earlier that she was the leaker, I have no proof
that she is. However, her husband is a lawyer and it is a fact that
he has tweeted numerous negative comments about Trump.

There are systems that can be used to identify authors. It happened back in the Clinton era with an anonymous book by a well-known author called Primary Colors. The author was Joe Klein. Somebody at Yale studied the writing and outed him.

I would be very amused if it was the sanctimonious Pence.

“I don’t believe VP Pence is foolish enough to get caught slipping like that. “

I do...or it’s someone in Pence’s circle. It’s not like the rinos or neverTrumpers have given up trying to take down Trump. This is attempt #1004.

The swamp, dems and repukis alike, would love-love another GW Bush term(Pence). Anyone but Trump.
