With Kavanaugh on track for confirmation, Democrats regret triggering 'nuclear option'

With attempts to attack Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh’s record failing, Democrats over the weekend mounted a last-ditch bid to derail his confirmation to the Supreme Court by claiming that the vetting process is so bad that it demands a do-over.
.
.
.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Democrat, expressed remorse that her party eviscerated the power of the filibuster five years ago, leaving them no path to stop Judge Kavanaugh, barring Republican defections.

Ms. Klobuchar, who voted with fellow Democrats in 2013 to trigger the “nuclear option” and curtail the filibuster, said she would support reverting to the 60-vote rule should her party regain the Senate.

We need more judges approved so the Democrats can be really, really, REALLY sorry. I don’t want to see angst go to waste!

If they hadn’t triggered it then they would be triggering it now. One way or another Kavanaugh will be on the bench by October.

“I don’t think we should have made that change when we look back at it. But it happened because we were so frustrated because President Obama wasn’t able to get his nominees, but I think we would have been in a better place now,” she [Klobuchar] said

The woman certainly has a firm grasp on the obvious. She seems to be among the brighter of the Democrat denizens.

Well, Miss Amy, if ever the democrat party regains the Senate, I will wholeheartedly support the reinstatement of the filibuster rule. Heck, let’s take it all the way back to 67 votes being needed to invoke cloture.

What goes around comes around,

Can’t even call this the law of unintended consequences. It was all foreseen, oh except for that part about the savaged deplorable rising up and electing Trump.

Let’s take it back even further, and repeal the 17th Amendment.

The Senate was supposed to represent the interest of the states, not to be a bigger House of Representatives.

They broke the Constitution’s federal system in two places; the Civil War, and the 17th Amendment.

Well...I support going back to the 60 vote rule, too.....right after we get 2 or 3 more conservative, constitutionalist Supreme Court Justices seated.
