Sounds like some group wants to erase history

"Evidently the building housed a 5.5 ton meteorite. I’m guessing it survived the fire."

Sad, but ironically funny. I'm going to be wild and guess arson. Someone has perhaps been pocketing valuable historical items to sell on the black market, or ebay. Inquires might have been made as to where are some missing items, and suddenly, all evidence is lost.

I'm just a very suspicious type person.

Blame it on Rio

They can get replacements on Amazon

Evidently the building housed a 5.5 ton meteorite. I’m guessing it survived the fire.

Along with many ancient artifacts that had survived ancient massive fires.

I think in this country something like 97% of fires are contained with 2 or less sprinkler heads when the system is operational.

My guess is they had not retrofitted the building and had no fire protection at all.

Ever had to clean up an area when a head malfunctions? It's an astounding amount of water in a short time and it definitely works.

Wonder how many forgeries went up in smoke.

I’m surprised the Clintons didn’t take this approach with the National Archive rather that having Sandy Burgler fill his shorts with documents various times.

Or erase their tracks after stealing the marketable stuff.
Check whereabouts of museum personnel/guards, and see if lots of gold/jewels happen to be in their possession.

I haven’t seen one malfunction other than the ones that stick out of the wall in a hotel breaking after being used as a clothes hanger. That soaked multiple floors before it was shut down.

Another time a prisoner at the jail broke one open only to be doused in the face by the nasty stagnant water. Think black mud on the shallow end of the lake.

Brazil, in this case, was “the West”.
They had a large Egyptian collection there, burned now.

Sad Day—Brazil must get her act together if she is to take her place on the world stage. Palaces can be rebuilt, artifacts remade, paintings re-painted. The soul of a nation must be saved.
