Put Arpaio in there for a short term with the understanding that he get out of the current Senate race.

Kyl has been Kavanaugh’s Senate sherpa. Brewer has extremely high negatives in AZ and Ducey is too cautious for that.

The big question is what does Ducey get out of it? He wants to run for President soon and the Senate seat too valuable not to trade with.

So interesting, thanks for all your insights.

Too many wrinkles. We need lookers but I do like her. Would she run in 2022? I say no. We need the seat safe for 10-16 years. Hayworth. He’s a likable fella.

Arpaio can barely string a coherent sentence together now. Too old and would be a bumbling disgrace and damage the MAGA agenda.

Well, I’ll give Juan McLame this, he at least did die at a good time. It give the state a chance to voice their vote then it gives the governor a chance to decide whom to make senator. The timing could not have been better.

It’s so good in fact that it makes me wonder how long McCain has really been dead. Weeks? Months?

Whether by design or fate; McCain finally did something right. Of course really doing the right thing would have been resigning when he knew he would never return to his job as a senator but then McCain has never been known for doing the right thing for the people; only for himself.

I really hope Ducey appoints someone who will support our President. Period.

Primary Tuesday. No funeral service scheduled yet, but there will be one in Phoenix and one in Washington. Surely a week away from now before the Senator is interred.

Still holding out for Dr. Ward to be appointed in McCain's Seat as she is sure to lose to McSally on Tuesday. However, by then she will have lost two elections. One to McCain and one to McSally. Not a good resume enhancer. But I feel she would be tops as a Senator...And I have $upported her in such hope.

I think it's pretty obvious who the governor should send. I'm surprised no one's thought of it. It's Jeff Smith...

I thought Cindy was all over his seat. Passing it from one RINO to another. Although, she might be honest enough to run next time as a demonrat.

LS called John Kyl a good former senator? The guy turned out to be a RINO squish. LS is all lovey dovey about Sessions as well so take that with a grain of salt.

“The Chuckey Schumer and his angry “democrats” aren’t going to allow McCain’s replacement to be selected until Cohen gets to go on a book tour”

I don’t believe that the Senate itself has any role in vetting the replacement. So that leaves Chucky Schmucky “inspecting his own circumcision!”

He should name former Gov. Jan Brewer, if she is willing and able.

Bump

Doubt it. Ducey should appoint the successor tomorrow. That will give Tuesday’s primary voters a chance to base their vote on his decision. Won’t happen. Politicians are cowards.

Amendment 17, paragraph 2:

When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

I’ve heard that such laws (concerning party affiliation of the appointee) are of dubious constitutionality, although no one has challenged them. Clearly Ducey could leave the vacancy open if he were required to choose a Democrat.
