Just look at this quoting:

If she said "they have to remember", why was "they" not included between the quote marks? Probably because she didn't say that. And if you play the clip, sure enough, she didn't. She said "we have to remember".
So that bit if falsely portrayed as a comment directed at the family when it was really directed at "we", the country.
She also didn't say we should focus on real problems like "helping illegal immigrants".
Her response is worth criticizing for sure. She avoided answering the question and instead brought up separated families, which is itself a distortion of the real issue. But reporters should not lie.
