A patient waited 62 hours for an ambulance, while four trusts took more than 24 hours to respond to 999 calls, new figures have shown.
The longest delays in the UK were recorded by Welsh Ambulance Service, which kept four patients waiting for more than 50 hours.
A spokesman said the figures were "not typical" and "represent the extreme end of the waiting time spectrum".
The Patients Association said they were "extremely concerning".
Between June 2017 and June 2018, ambulances from four services took 24 hours to reach patients, including some with breathing and mental health problems.

Caroline Hardaker's mother Sylvia, 79, lay on paving stones in her back garden for three-and-a-half hours after falling and breaking her hip in High Wycombe.
She said: "I think I rang six times in the end, and each time they said they would have a clinician call back and then they didn't.
"It was so frustrating, just thinking 'how long are they going to take'? And my mum was going into shock, her arms were shaking. Her arm had gone numb.
"She was obviously cold because she was lying on a pavement.
"The ambulance and hospital staff have been fantastic - its not their fault, the whole system is breaking down.
"When I was a child you were told it would be a maximum of eight minutes for an ambulance, but three-and-a-half hours is completely unacceptable."

Too many “immigrants” to take care of. And the USA is falling into that same trap.
According to Obama, we can do it better than they can.
Also, the UK votes, yes? Thought so.
I thought they changed the number from 999 to 0118 999 881 99 9119 725....3.
And for God’s sake, don’t get the wrong country code.
It’s not just immigrants. Last I knew the NHS was the UK’s largest employer, with over a million employees. That’s one heck of bureaucracy to support. Not much left for patients.
Better outcomes.
Immigrants abuse the system. To get to a free ambulance ride to the hospital an moved to the head of the line, the call and say they are having chest pains. What do they care? The Brits are all kaffirs.
I know 999 is the UK's version of 911, and the real problem is National Health Care. I hope he didn't need the ambulance in an emergency...
I recently completed a 7 month contract working in a medium-sized city in the northwest. We had homeless bums, Medicaid recipients, and heroin addicts arriving by cabulance every day. Some of the chief complaints I heard: Can I get a sandwich? I have a cold. I’m constipated (heroin will do that). It is a private ambulance service so they don’t care what the reason is as long as it generates a bill to the city.
If you are still alive after 62 hours you either don’t need one or just call a taxi.
This gives them additional time to die. The savings can the go to other less ill peoples needs. I believe that this is how the system is supposed to work.
