Isn’t that cute?
They tried this in the 50’s with a nuke powered bomber too. They got the system to work. Decided is was not worth the trouble. At all.

They better move quickly or the US Navy will have it. Just cause something gets lost underwater no longer means that it’s lost for good.

They got the system to work.
Yeah, Art Bell used to have a guy on that work on that project.
IIRC, it worked, but the weight of the shielding necessary to protect the crew made it not work.

From what I’ve read — and the articles are really poorly written & sourced — what this is is a aerodynamic reentry vehicle that can carry a nuclear device. It gets launched by an IBM (that’s the ‘unlimited range bit) but after reentry it can glide on almost any track to strike a pre-planned target.

Too late, a US submarine has already retrieved it.
After 16 years of clinton and obama, I’m not so sure.

They put one in a modified B-36.

It sounds like
Project Pluto a nuclear Ramjet that the US did a study on in the early 1960's. Not only did this thing fly around dropping nuclear devices, it also had a highly radioactive exhaust from its engines. It would have killed anyone unfortunate to be in its flight path, whether it bombed them or not.
