Researchers no longer hesitate to blame climate change for floods, fires and heat waves. Here's how the science works.
When the heat waves, droughts, wildfires and deluges come - as they seem to with increasing regularity these days - the question inevitably arises: Did climate change play a role?
The answer scientists gave for years was that greenhouse gases created by humans likely contributed to extreme weather, but it was hard to definitively tie the warming atmosphere to any single episode.
But that cautious approach, repeated in thousands of news reports for more than a decade, has been changing in recent months. Now, scientists say that they will increasingly be able to link extreme weather events to human-caused global warming and to make such determinations quickly, sometimes within days.
The discipline is being driven by an increasing focus among academics, by better data collection worldwide and by open-source computer models that allow researchers ready access to complex climate simulations, particularly of what Earth’s temperatures likely would have looked like without the profusion of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases over the last century.
Scientists who conduct attribution studies are reliant on computer modeling. They take a finite event, such as a temperature spike of 100 degrees that lasts more than a week in a single location. They then design a computer simulation, altering key factors to create a “counter-factual.”

Poll after poll shows the fictitious “climate change” myth doesn’t even register on the list of the concerns of most people. We have had the most miserable, stormy, humid summer I can remember and even liberals aren’t spouting the “climate change” stuff (at least with me).

Reminds me of when I tell people they shouldn't use those totally computerized voting machines. They'll say, "But I get a printed copy of how I vote". Sigh. But that may or may not be the voting that is sent to the vote counters.
During last year’s eclipse they knew when and where the eclipse was going to occur long before the event because they truly understand the orbital properties.
When they can accurately and consistently tell me that there will be a Category x hurricane that will hit somewhere on some date, then I’d say they have real understanding.

Actually, I think it's worse than that. They start with the result they want and then write simulation software to "prove" it.
These are the same retards who with billions of dollars worth of computers, satellites, and radar CAN NOT accurately predict the freaking weather five days from now, but swear up and down that their predictions on global warming 50 to 100 years from now are accurate.

Yep. I am an Orc Shaman in a computer simulation. I am also a fighter pilot in 4 different wars and a NASCAR driver in simulations. I won the Medal of Honor and the Knights Cross for my WW2 submarine and U-boat commands in simulations.
attribution science is slightly more advanced science than divining rods and rain dances.
