Pennsylvania is one of America's most populous when it comes to gun owners. Almost one in three Pennsylvanians owns a firearm, or 31 percent. So where do they learn how to shoot? (Legally, that is.) I'm under-educated on the gun-owner side of our national debate. So, I persuaded my editors to let me take a gun class, learn gun safety, and understand more about gun culture. --SNIP-- First, the thrill. It's for real. I'm holding a firearm in my hands. It's horrifying and exhilarating at the same time. Later, I'll shoot "dry-fire" essentially, blanks and then real bullets. "That's the dopamine blast, every time you pull the trigger," said Jose Morales, who operates Philly Firearms Academy in Willow Grove and holds gun safety courses.

The other evening I was looking at the magazine rack in our Lowes grocery store while my wife was buying groceries. I counted eight different gun magazines.
Remember when a man, if he didn’t hunt as a boy for some reason, would have a rifle thrust into his hands in basic training and taught everything about it before firing it for the first time?
PA is popular with the NJ crowd. NJ sucks for gun owners.
I pay $110.00 a year to be a member of my Sportsmen’s Association.
They have indoor and outdoor ranges. Indoor and arch r ry ranges, including 3D ranges. Not to mention trap and skeet ranges.
Anybody who pays that much an hour to shoot like that is getting hosed.
“dry-fire” essentially, blanks
Really?
Remember the Kenyan Stain called us “Bitter Clingers”?
“Trigger-happy”??? I have no fear of someone shooting randomly anywhere near me.
Now “Sanctuary City” Philly may be a different story, as well as many cities east of the Delaware, but nobody is “happy” with the “trigger” where I live.
I was at Walmart in blue Panorama city and the entire 3 rows were gun mags. They look more beautiful than looking at oprah’s ugly fat toad face on her mag..
Doug’s Shootin Sports. $10. Shoot all day. Bring as many guns as you like. Gotta love Utah.
Maryland. crowd too. Gun clubs near the border have lots of Maryland plates
The first step to converting someone from the anti side is get them interested and get them to shoot.
We could very well have a convert here.
Over all the story was not bad.
Boxes and boxes of 22, 38, 357 magnum {usually only one box} 30-30, 30-06 to end the day.
I'd rather be shooting with the kids than any other activity {golfing, fishing etc.}
For pure sport, target [skeet etc] shooting can't be beat.
In the old days, we’d sneak out in the woods and shoot. It usually took an hour or two for the local cops to mosey out to see who was shooting. 22 shorts/longs, you could shoot all day. Long rifle and bigger stuff, you’d do your shooting, and clear out. They knew it was us, but we’d pretend it wasn’t us, and they’d pretend they believed us. This was about 1 mile from Philadelphia.
Now, every cop under 50 is mentally ill. They are more of a threat than “the bad guys.” I only shoot far, far away from my home — I don’t want my local cops to know I have guns. I’ve seen them pull their guns on children with squirt guns — out here in the 1/2+ acre suburbs!
No.
Even at the high point of military service only about 20% of males were in the service.
only place i ever shot in PA was on top of a hill in Trout Run back when i shot highpower
When lived in PA had the Gamelands - state owned hunting reserves
Gamelands had simple ranges for handgun and rifles
Had one near where lived, used to go there to shoot
Ping
My membership for the local range in Walnutport PA is $10 dollars a year.
They have an outdoor range under a bridge embankment where you can shoot machine guns, if you have them.
