Republicans shouldn’t be defensive about this. They should speak loudly about MLK’s vision of a color blind society and the necessity of not dividing but uniting all Americans, and point out that the Democrats are the party that wants to foment racial strife and division.
A white man debating or lecturing two black men about racism on their own territory is a recipe for disaster and likely damaging talking points.
It's not a neutral platform. It's not a fair debate. It's an ambush.
When invited to 'discuss' this topic, Republicans should politely decline unless it's on a neutral platform with a neutral moderator to enforce agreed upon rules.
