The New Mexico gubernatorial candidate seeking a ban on high magazine cartridges is now campaigning on firearm confiscation orders and universal background checks.
Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) is making clear that gun control will be an important part of her agenda if the people of New Mexico elect her.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that Lujan Grisham wants to expand background checks to all gun purchases and wants to put a process in place to allow family members or law enforcement to seek temporary court orders to confiscate firearms from someone they fear may hurt themselves or others.

... to allow family members or law enforcement to seek temporary court orders to confiscate firearms ... But they get to keep knives, propane tanks, chainsaws and automobiles, only the over/under shotguns get confiscated?

Sadly, it’s been that way for years. When I moved there in ‘63 there weren’t a million people in the state. Now I think there’s close to that in Albuquerque. Left in ‘67 when I enlisted and lived there a couple times after I got out. The politics kept me from moving back there when I retired.

That’s when you keep the cartridges about to go into a magazine on the top shelf of the bookcase.

Hmmm. Well, Santa Fe is pretty high up there. If I remember correctly, it’s the “highest” state capital in the country. And, let’s not forget that super spy val plame and amb-ass-adore joe wilson live there lending even more lib creds.

to allow family members or law enforcement to seek temporary court orders to confiscate firearms from someone they fear may hurt themselves or others. So, we are going back to the old days when someone in your family could have you judged insane and have you committed to a mental hospital on nothing but an affidavit.
Temporary quickly becomes permanent with a little judge shopping.
I saw him pick his nose and scratch his butt with the same hand!
OMG! Hes Criminally Insane! He can never own a squirt gun again!
