I don’t know you, but if I met you I probably wouldn’t like you. (Who knows?)
Are you a Lawyer? Debater?
(Those folks that are Lawyers or Debaters routinely can argue opposite of anything placed before them, as they tend to not have any core beliefs, it has been theorized that they also do not possess a Soul and that is why they can suspend reality and embrace and defend the absurd with a displayed/portrayed appearance of 100% conviction and agreement)

And sorry, conservatives, the Second Amendment wasn’t written to keep states from banning guns ... They understood the Second Amendment applied only to the federal government, not the states.

No kidding but that is true of the entire Bill of Rights. That changed through the judge-decreed process of “incorporation”. But given that all of the other significant rights have been incorporated so as to apply against the states, it would make zero sense not to incorporate this greatly important one as well.

"Incorporation" has been nothing but an abominable disaster! Why would any conservative defend such a thing?

It would be better to start the day with a prayer.

The government in Washington, D.C., is called “the federal government.” A federal government governs a federation, not a nation...
In fact, it is precisely the trend towards “one nation” that has caused American politics to become so rancorous, to the point of boiling over into violence, over the course of the last several decades.

Getting rid of the un-American pledge to the imaginary nation would be a good, symbolic start

So you are obviously opposed to the National Anthem because it includes the following:

Blessed with victory and peace, may this heaven-rescued land
Bless the power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
(emphasis added)

Yeah - Nathan Hale saying he regretted he had but one life to give for his country was the beginning of the un-American crap that the Pledge of Allegiance represents.

I suppose that disagreeing with those who burn the flag or take a knee to protest the greatest nation on God's green earth is also un-American.

18 years on FR and you come up with this crap?

Thanks Pelham, as always you are one of the few voices of reason around here with sound logic and understanding.

You are correct but the problem is (until very recently), the only major right not to be ruled as incorporated was the right to keep and bear arms. Keep in mind that conservatives rely upon incorporation all the time, such as by claiming that they have First Amendment protections against their own state governments (such as in the gay wedding cake case). To be consistent and true to original intent, we would have to abandon all arguments like that. Unfortunately, the Constitution has been twisted into something it was never intended to be. Kind of hart to un-spill the milk at this point.
