The long-awaited state grand jury report into sexual abuse in six Pennsylvania dioceses, including Pittsburgh and Greensburg, has finally been released.
The 1,300-plus page document, two years in the making, shines a light into the dark corners of these dioceses going back seven decades, exposing the predators and the efforts of their bishops to protect them.
The report begins with the following statement:
“We, the members of this grand jury, need you to hear this. We know some of you have head some of it before. There have been other reports about child sex abuse within the Catholic Church. But never on this scale. For many of us, those earlier stories happened someplace else, someplace away. Now we know the truth: it happened everywhere.”
The report cites 301 priests, clergy and lay teachers with credible allegations against them. There are 99 in the Diocese of Pittsburgh alone.

The report states:
“All victims were brushed aside, in every part of the state, by church leaders who preferred to protect the abusers and their institution above all. The main thing was not to help children, but to avoid scandal.”
“Priests were raping little boys and girls and the men of God who were responsible for them not only did nothing: they hid it all.”
“Diocesan administrators, including the Bishops, had knowledge of this conduct and yet priests were regularly placed in ministry after the Diocese was on notice that a complaint of child sexual abuse had been made. This conduct enabled offenders and endangered the welfare of children.”

A South African cop named Mark Minnie co-authored a book (Lost Boys of Bird Island) which exposed the ring in south African life back in the eighties. His book came out this month and he was murdered Monday night or early Tuesday morning in S.Africa. He had let slip that he was working on a further expose to be published. This ring of evil is active and very powerful, without a single hint of conscience.

To be fair...this is NOT just a catholic thing, but to be clear, the catholic priesthood is being used for his purpose.

The full report cites some girls. One was impregnated, married, and divorced by a priest who was allowed to continue in his role in the church.
Another perv priest raped 5 siblings (all girls) and collected panties, urine, pubic hair as trophies. His collection was found by police.
You might want to do a little research into those Spartans and their proclivities.
I don’t know how your friend concluded that. If priests can’t marry, then it would make no difference if homosexuals pretending to be married was legal.
I was talking about this yesterday with a few friends. I still say that not allowing priests to marry set the church up for a disaster.
Years ago, if I was a homosexual who did not want anyone to know, becoming a priest would be the perfect choice. Nobody questions why you aren’t married, you are in a job for life with a position of respect, honour, and total trust. Then you have access to children who look up to you and trust you as well. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Are you saying that not one of these people, nor their parents went to the police? How is this possible? And do they have a similar report on public school teachers. In our area there was one priest who was said to be a pedophile. But we had 10 teachers who were arrested or lost their jobs for sexual contact or pornography involving students.

All that is true, but they managed to eliminate a major category: males assaulting other adult or late adolescent males. These, in many cases, are not criminally prosecutable, but can be the subject of civil suits. The result is that dioceses have paid out millions to settle adult sexual harassment suits (usually filed by men, but some women were assaulted or harassed as well).
McCarrick may have assaulted minors, but most of his victims were adults, and I think you’d find that this is true for many priests and bishops. But that doesn’t appear on this list, so they’ve saved their sorry butts once again.
The whole situation is out of control, and pedophilia is not even the main problem.
