UPDATE (11:50 PM 8/13/18):
The West Virginia House of Delegates has impeached all four of the state's Supreme Court justices.
The Republican-led House on Monday night impeached Justice Beth Walker and the other justices for abusing their authority. The article says they failed to control office expenses and not maintaining policies over important matters such as working lunches, the use of state vehicles and office computers at home.
Walker was the last of the four justices to be impeached. She had avoided impeachment earlier when the House voted not to pass an article against her for $131,000 in renovations she made after taking office last year.
Suspended Justice Allen Loughry, Chief Justice Margaret Workman and Justice Robin Davis also were impeached.
Loughry was suspended earlier this year and has pleaded not guilty to a 23-count federal indictment.
All 4 Supreme Court Justices of West Virginia have been impeached!

I’m really surprised this has not made more of a national news story, I’m pretty sure that this is the first time in history a state has sucessfully impeached their entire Supreme Court all at once....
If they abused their authority I don’t care which side they’re on. They need to be gone.
The Establishment is probably worried that other States might following triggering a tsunami effect.
Would someone in the know please share some details about why they were impeached, what kinds of crimes these folks were involved in?? I see in the article some mentions, but I’m pretty sure there must be even more to it.

This is a huge national story.
Besides irresponsibly wasting the tax payers money for personal comforts and expenses, which is bad enough, was this a liberal leaning cabal as well? I don’t know the WV local politics.

Except maybe the Robert Beauregard Byrd Memorial Outhouse, the State Building! Byrd would say that all of this is “twaddilizing!” Kudos to WVA for their “housecleaning” effort. Just wish the House would do the same thing to the Ninth Circuit Court here in CA. Ditto for about half the Federal Judges.
This sounds like an interesting turn of events. We need more details.
If Pennsylvania would do the same for all justices who voted (and redrew congressional districts). Completely overstepped their bounds, as it is the PA Houses job to set district lines.
Hope this trend spreads to Pennsylvania.

Give Byrd a break, will ya? It’s not like he was a top KKK officer, such as an Exalted Cyclops. Oh, wait. Byrd was an Exalted Cyclops. Never mind.
Typical how the story goes....no mention of political affiliation, unless I missed it. They must be democRATS, although it would not surprise if a pubbie was involved.
Now the case goes to the WV Senate for trial.
In order to remove the justices, a 2/3 vote is needed. Republicans have 22 of 34 seats in the Senate. They will need all Republicans and one Democrat to remove any justice.
